Police Slam Blogger with Six-Count Charge

By Oluwatoyin Adegoke

The Ogun State Police Command says it has filed a six-count charge against an internet blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known on social media as @justadetoun, over alleged cyberbullying and related offences.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the charges before the Abeokuta Division of the Federal High Court stemmed from allegations that the suspect used social media to spread false claims and cyberbully the Ogun State Governor, contrary to the Cybercrimes Act.

According to the statement, the suspect failed to honour a Police invitation extended to her on January 2nd 2026, claiming through her lawyer to be medically indisposed and submitting a medical report in support.

Mr Babaseyi said that the command’s investigations later established that the report was false, and the medical doctor involved was arrested and arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court for conspiracy.

The Police Public Relations Officer stated that Adetoun Onajobi has remained evasive and her current whereabouts are unknown, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend her and produce her before the court.

The statement reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to combat all forms of crime, including digital offences, while respecting constitutional rights, stressing that freedom of expression does not confer immunity from criminal acts.
