By Abimbola Bamgbose

The Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commiserated with the Government and people of Kwara State over the recent deadly terrorist attacks in parts of the state.

In a statement issued in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun described the incident, which reportedly claimed at least one hundred and sixty-two lives in Woro and Nuku villages, as tragic, unfortunate and deeply disturbing.

He condemned the attack on innocent and law-abiding citizens, noting that residents were targeted for allegedly refusing to adopt Sharia law, while homes and shops were set ablaze and several persons kidnapped.
Governor Abiodun stressed that Nigeria remains a secular state that guarantees freedom of religion and peaceful coexistence.

On behalf of the Southern Governors’ Forum, he called on security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and ensure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The Ogun State governor also extended condolences to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq, and the affected communities, urging security agencies to do all within their power to prevent further attacks and restore peace to the area.
