Hoodlums Disrupt Ondo APC Meeting

By Dupe Isename

There was a violent disruption of an All Progressives Congress, APC stakeholders’ meeting at the party’s state secretariat in Akure, Ondo State, during which the State Chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin, was allegedly assaulted.

Other Chieftains attacked included Chief Demola Ijabiyi, Mr Sola Ajisafe and Chief of Staff to former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Dr Kola Ademujimi.

The victims told newsmen that the attackers claimed they were acting against some perceived enemies of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa.

Relating the incident, Chief Ijabiyi said party members had converged in preparation for the ward congresses when they were attacked.

Another eyewitness account said that the hoodlums who chanted war songs insisted that only the governor’s supporters would be allowed into the secretariat and warned others to leave the premises or face consequences.

Chief Ijabiyi condemned the attack as an assault on democratic engagement and internal party cohesion, warning that such actions, if unchecked, could destabilize the state’s political environment.
