Oyo State Government to commission two security surveillance aircraft as part of measures to improve safety and security.
Governor Seyi Makinde made this known at this year’s Workers’ Day celebration held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Professor Musibau Babatunde, Governor Makinde acknowledged that insecurity and poverty remain challenges affecting workers’ productivity and morale.

He said his administration would strengthen stakeholder engagement by bringing together traditional rulers, community leaders, local vigilante groups, and security agencies to tackle insecurity.
In separate remarks, Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in Oyo State, Mr Bosun Olabiyi, and Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr Kayode Martins, appealed to the state government to reduce taxes deducted from workers’ salaries.
They, however, commended Governor Makinde for prioritising workers’ welfare.
Some workers who spoke with Radio Nigeria said they participated in the May Day celebration despite prevailing economic challenges and urged the government to improve welfare packages.
