Actress Shine Rosman has opened up about her powerful role in the much-talked-about film “To Kill A Monkey”, describing it as one of the most transformative experiences of her career.

In an interview with newsmen, Rosman shared how embodying the character “Sparkles” pushed her creatively and emotionally.

“Channeling Sparkles definitely put me outside of my comfort zone. But I enjoyed every moment of it. God is good. God helps one with everything. You just have to ask Him,” she said.

The film, which has garnered massive attention despite minimal traditional publicity, is being praised for its raw storytelling. Rosman attributed the film’s success to divine grace.

People shoot amazing films all the time. It really just takes the grace of God to be at this level of people just embracing the project and the authenticity about it,” she noted.

Rosman also praised the experience of working under a female director Kemi Adetiba, describing it as both inspiring and validating.

“There is something incredible about working with female directors. Every time I work with them, I feel like I am doing what I should be doing. Nothing gets by them, the nails, the hair, the makeup. Nothing gets past her. She is such a detailed and a unique person. It was incredible working with her.”

Beyond her personal journey in To Kill A Monkey, Rosman reflected on the broader challenges women face in the entertainment industry, particularly in music.

I do think sometimes there are ways women are held back in entertainment, especially in music. It’s a very difficult space for women to navigate,” she added.

There is no truth in the death rumour circulating concerning music legend Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, following the affirmation that he is alive, strong and healthy.

In a video on Tuesday morning, Obey-Fabiyi reacted through songs in Yoruba, English and Pidgin, where he described the news as false.

In the video, Obey-Fabiyi sang, “Hello, my name is Professor Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi.
Satan, you don lose o, Satan, you don lose o, you don pafuka. Na lie lie you dey talk, you don pafuka.”

The legendary musician, then added, “It is fake news that started a few hours ago claiming that I, Evangelist Obey, have passed on to glory. It is a lie. I am alive, and that is not the word Jesus has written.”

The rumour of his death went viral on Monday, sparking mourning messages from his fans.

However, his assistant, Tope Olukole, swiftly debunked the claim during a Monday evening interview with TVC.

Olukole assured the public that the music legend was in good health.

Let’s set the record straight: Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi is alive and thriving! He recently celebrated a joyous occasion, the 50th birthday of his second child’s spouse,” Olukole said.

“Rumours of his passing are baseless and entirely unfounded. We’re glad to see him active and well,” he added.

The death hoax came barely a month after Obey-Fabiyi marked his 83rd birthday.

A Magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos has cleared Nigerian street singer Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, his aide Sam Larry, and Prime Boy from the death of Mohbad.

Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje, who read and implemented the legal advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, Lagos, said that they had no case to answer as regards the unfortunate demise of the late singer.

The court said it would prosecute the auxiliary nurse that injected him (Feyisayo Ogedengbe) and one of Mohbad’s friends, Ayobami, for the offense of reckless and negligent acts contrary to Section 251 (e) of the Criminal Law, Ch C.17, Vol 3, Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The duo will be prosecuted at the Magistrate Court.

Refreshing Mohbad memory, a former signee of Naira Marley’s record label, tragically passed away at 27 under unclear circumstances on September 12, 2023.

Following his death, his former boss, Naira Marley and his aide, Sam Larry lost the admiration of Nigerians when a video of Sam assaulting the late Mohbad surfaced online. The video sparked a flurry of reactions from the online community and led to the cancellation of Naira Marley and his label.

The duo were arrested and kept in police custody for more than five weeks but were released on November 17th after they met their bail conditions. After their release, the singer and his aide engaged in several charitable deeds to win back the hearts of Nigerians.

Back in March, a video of an Imam forcing Naira and Sam Larry to say Amen for the killers of Mohbad surfaced online and left tongues wagging. The Imam later spoke out on the incident, revealing that they had confessed to him that they were innocent and had nothing to do with his death, and had asked him to say a prayer for the killers of Mohbad.

In May, Sam Larry was embarrassed over an incident at a club. The socialite had stormed a club, and unfortunately for him, a club guest confronted him over Mohbad’s death, questioning where the boy he killed was. This made Sam Larry flare up and was captured online venting as some guys held him.

Zinoleesky, who is signed under Naira Marley’s label, Marlians Records, also lost the support of many for keeping silent over the maltreatment rendered on Mohbad. His career took a major blow, as US show promoters cancelled his tours and distanced themselves from him.

Aso oke is a handwoven cloth from Nigeria that translates to “top cloth” or “cloth from the highlands”, the English translation of Aso-Oke is “top cloth”, another name for Aso-Oke is ‘aso off’.

Aso-oke’s origins can be traced back to the 15th century when it was created by the Yoruba people of Nigeria. The town of Iseyin in Oyo State, Nigeria, is widely believed to be the birthplace of Aso-oke. The town is home to a large number of weavers, and the cloth has been produced there for centuries.

It is a hand-loomed cotton fabric from Nigeria that is traditionally worn by the Yoruba people. It’s a prestigious fabric that’s worn for special occasions and is a symbol of Yoruba identity and culture.

Types of Aso Oke

Sanyan: Tan wild silk

Alaari: Magenta imported silk

Etu: Indigo cotton

In the olden days, the making of the aso-oke was usually done by older people especially the weaving aspect, which was usually transferred from generation to generation. In a family, a father can be a weaver and then transfer the skill to their children. The business of making Aso-Oke was done within a family where the father, mother, and children would work together because it’s not something one person can do all by themselves. But now, we can see people of all ages, with this passion, making and producing Aso-oke fabrics in different colours and styles.

Aso-oke was not so common in 2015, Aso-oke was not worn by everybody, it was worn only by brides, older people, royal families, and others.

I beg to differ. Aso-oke is not becoming unfashionable to the younger generation; instead, Aso-oke has come to stay. If we look around, designers have used their creative prowess to change the narrative.

We now use Aso Oke to make jackets, trousers, skirts, dresses, kiddies outfits, shoes, bags, purses, and even a wedding dress.

It is now used by both old and young people, male and female, and also people of different tribes. This is why you see a lot of designers now learning how to sew and design Aso Oke unlike before when you could only get a few designers in this area.

I am aware that China’s investment in the production of traditional attires is causing a threat to indigenous fashion designers. The type of Aso Oke China produces can never be compared to what Nigeria produces because this is a product of our culture. It is locally woven. We are the originators of Aso-oke so China cannot produce exactly what we do. Based on comparison, Nigerians still prefer the quality of what is made locally to what China imports.

This gele style is a real show stopper sure to get the Yoruba aunties looking in your direction. It’s best to use an aso-oke or any other thick fabric to achieve consistency.

This style is a remixed version of the infinity pleated gele. It’s a nice option if you’re attending an owambe with several mummies and want to stand out from them.

This is my doctor, he started cleaning my nostrils, he was checking if there was nasal packing in my nose. Yes, there was nasal packing in my nose, this is what he brought out, it wasn’t painful but it was uncomfortable. All those stuffs were stuffed in my nose to control bleeding after the surgery.

He started taking out the cast, my face was swollen, look at my side profile, it’s already coming out very well. It’s still swollen but will look more normal so you guys should calm down. I know some of you pray it looks bad, but God pass man.

“He’s putting a cast that I’ll be taking off and replacing myself for the next month because after one month the swelling will go down significantly, so he’s putting back the cast.

“This thing my doctor is showing me is called a retainer, this is to ensure that your nostrils are maintained and very even. I would be wearing these retainers for one month just at night.”

While some have started throwing heavy shades at Davido, famous social media critic Daniel Regha has reacted at the development by drumming his support for the superstar Afrobeats singer.

While the likes of music executive Samklef among others have started mocking Davido claiming that the singer does not have the real talent to win the prestigious Grammy Award, social media critic, Daniel Regha who is well-known for criticizing Davido makes a U-Turn this time around.

With the stakes higher than ever, these Nollywood queens are gearing up to release their most ambitious projects yet, all set to hit cinemas this December.

Social media has become their battleground, featuring meticulously curated posts, aggressive promotional campaigns, and star-studded premieres, all in a bid to claim the spotlight.

Nollywood actress and Queen Tayo Soboola, better known as Sotayo Gaga, has shared a cute video of herself and her daughter.

On Instagram, the pretty actress shared the moment she stepped out with her daughter to celebrate the weekend. The mother of one proudly stated that they are out to spend her husband’s money.

“Lets chop your father’s money baby gurl.”

Recall that Sotayo Gaga welcomed her daughter in November. She shared a video of herself with a baby bump to announce her daughter’s birth. Following the news, a photo of the movie star with her bundle of joy made rounds online, which led to more congratulatory messages.

Recall that Sotayo Gaga secretly tied the knot with her husband, who she refused to show to the public in March 2021. Following her wedding, she bagged numerous chieftaincy titles in Nassarawa state, raising suspicion that her husband might be from the state.

Sotayo dumped her longtime boyfriend, AY, for the northern-based monarch. Sotayo reacted to the news, telling the blog to leave them alone.

Recall also that Sotayo Gaga opened up on life as a married woman.

In an interview with Sunday Sun, the crowned Queen Mother of Uke Kingdom in Nasarawa State reacted to the trend of men restricting their wives from acting after marriage.

She said the woman considered whether she could abide by the restriction. She also claimed men made such decisions due to jealousy.

Sotayogaga further addressed how she merged her role as a queen and actress. She said her royal duties were taking her away from her acting career.

She emphasised how her husband had never restricted her from acting.

“He lets me do what I want. But I have to respect that there is a limit I can go when I am acting, and I don’t need to be told.”

Funsho Adeoti, the former wife of Kazim Adeoti, a Nollywood film producer, has spoken amidst the backlash that followed her previous post.

On Instagram, Funsho Adeoti wrote about the importance of thanksgiving. Quoting from the scriptures, the mother of four urged everyone to be thankful.

She noted that she is thankful in all circumstances, even when difficult.

“1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning us.
Thankful in all circumstances, even when those circumstances are difficult.”

This post follows the backlash she received from netizens for thanking God hours after her husband’s second wife, Mercy Aigbe, listed her property in Nigeria.

The US-based Funsho Adeoti created a buzz online when she shared a Thanksgiving message hours after the fire incident.

Although there is a time difference in their location, many claimed Funsho’s Thanksgiving was insensitive amidst Mercy Aigbe’s loss. In contrast, others vouched for her, stating she always thanks God on her Instagram page.

Recall that Mercy Aigbe has expressed heartfelt gratitude to her well-wishers hours after she lost property worth millions of naira.

News had emerged that Mercy Aigbe and her husband, Kazim Adeoti, lost their home to fire. Details of the events were not shared. However, their timeline buzzed with heartwarming and consoling words.

The mother of two generally took time to respond to everyone who reached out to her during this period.

Secrets of the ring finger…………

Spicy and Trendy

By Adetutu Adetule

Rings are considered part of adornment in societies and culture. However, rings are not just worn on fingers, they carry with them some symbolism.

Not many people know this though.

What are these symbolisms?

Ring finger – relationship status – this is where your wedding band goes. Middle finger – individuality – communicates order and purpose.

Index finger – allegiance – leadership and ambition – mainly used for membership rings.

Thumb – strength of character – shows willpower and freedom of thought.

Rings, especially wedding rings, have become symbols of love and everlasting love because of the circle’s cyclical and eternal character. If you give each other wedding bands or exchange engagement rings, you are symbolically vowing that you will love and be devoted to one another for the rest of your lives together.

Couples intending to get engaged may wear promise rings on the left ring finger. In many cultures, the right ring finger symbolizes love and trust. In countries including Germany, Russia and India, wedding and engagement rings are worn on the right ring finger.

The spiritual meanings associated with rings encompass a wide spectrum, embracing concepts of eternity, unity, and devotion through their circular form. In some societies, rings can symbolise profound commitments to spiritual paths, serving as reminders of faith and beliefs.

Wearing a ring on the middle finger and not on the right finger is a clear way for a woman to communicate to the world that she is not engaged or married. Arguably the most noticeable of the fingers, rings worn on this finger are highly noticeable and can be said to symbolise power, balance and stability

The use of wedding ring is not commanded in the Bible, and there is no indication that it was ever practiced in the New Testament. The use of ring finger in the Bible was as a symbol of authority.

Single men usually wear rings on their left finger. This signifies independence and freedom from relationship commitments, as the fourth finger on the left hand is traditionally associated with marriage.

Can an unmarried girl wear a ring in a ring finger?

Of course she can. As long as she has the finger and a ring that fits it she can put it on

Which Finger to Wear a Ring and Its Meaning

– Left thumb: Actively looking for a partner.

– Left index finger: In a relationship.

– Left middle finger: Engaged or having a stable partner.

– Left little finger: Divorced or determined to be single.

– Right thumb actively looking for a partner.

Most single women prefer wearing a diamond ring on the right hand ring finger, but this is truly up to personal preference! The left hand ring finger is usually reserved for marriage, so some prefer to avoid this hand as it could dissuade other potential partners.

Single men usually wear rings on their left ring finger. This signifies independence and freedom from relationship commitments, as the fourth finger on the left hand is traditionally associated with marriage.

As mentioned before, wedding rings are most often worn on the fourth finger from the right, on the left hand, particularly in the West. But, you’re also welcome to wear your wedding ring on the right-hand ring finger.

For many women, wearing a ring on the right ring finger might signify professional achievement or personal status. In some cultures, it could also represent marital status or engagement akin to the traditional left-hand practice

Which finger means dating?

Also known as a pre-engagement ring, or a friendship ring, the promise ring is gifted to a romantic partner. It symbolises the wearer’s commitment to a monogamous relationship. It can be given to a loved one as a precursor to an official engagement ring.

In many Western cultures, the ring finger on the left hand is traditionally reserved for engagement and wedding rings. This tradition is believed to have originated from the ancient Romans, who believed that the vein in the ring finger (vena amoris) ran directly to the heart, symbolizing love and commitment.

Ultimately, there are no strict rules about which finger to wear a divorce ring on, and it’s entirely up to the individual to decide what feels most meaningful and comfortable for them

In a divorce, the ring recipient is entitled to keep it because it is considered a gift. With that being said, the recipient has the freedom to choose what to do with the ring.

Usually in divorce, a wedding ring is considered the property of the spouse to whom it was given. But if the wedding ring or the diamond in it is the ex-spouse’s family heirloom, there might be consideration to give it back, though there is under no legal obligation to do so

Nollywood box office actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has broken down in tears as she speaks on bothering issues.

Toyin Abraham shared a photo of herself in tears while she laments the urgent need for better parenting. She spoke about the recent dramas that found their ways to the internet involving children assaulting and abusing each other.

She called the attention of parents to the “woke” attitude that underage children are displaying online even when the parents are not raised in the same manner.

“I am not happy on this Children’s Day

Happy Children’s Day to all children and to parents who were once children. As we celebrate this day, it is essential to acknowledge the need for better parenting. Recent online encounters and observations compel me to share this heartfelt message with every parent and guardian.

The quality of children we are raising today needs serious attention. We now have kids who see respect and courtesy as burdens. How do we feel reading some of the things the youths say to adults online under the guise of being “woke” or adopting a “no tolerance” attitude? Many of us were not raised the way we are raising our kids today. We are raising them with kid gloves because we believe times have changed. However, different times are not an excuse to raise disrespectful children.

Despite our age and blessings, there are still things we would not tell our parents, not out of fear, but out of respect. This Children’s Day should remind us to do better as parents and raise children who are respectful and kind. The recent tragic event at Ajayi Crowther University, where students killed a fellow student in the name of jungle justice, highlights the severe consequences of a lack of home training and moral values. Even if theft occurred, it does not justify taking another person’s life.

Respect, courtesy, responsibility, kindness, and hard work are values we were raised with. Although we may not have liked the discipline at the time, we are grateful to our parents today for instilling these values in us. We have a nation-building responsibility to raise the next generation of quality individuals.

Happy Children’s Day once again. May God keep our children for us, protect us from all forms of evil, and grant us a great celebration filled with wonderful experiences for the kids.

My name is Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi. I was once a little child, and I am now entrusted with the responsibility of raising quality children for a better society and nation.”
