Ondo Police Arrest Two Alleged Ritualists

The long arm of the law has caught up with two persons suspected of being ritualists in Ile-Oluji town in Ondo State, as they were nabbed by the Police on December 27, 2025.
The suspects were arrested after credible intelligence by operatives of the SWAT Tactical team, acting on a tip-off by a concerned citizen.

Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, narrated how the suspects were apprehended.

“The operation led to the arrest of two Suspects identified as Maria (female, 53 years) and Adewale (male, 28 years), while a10-year-old boy who was allegedly intended to be used for a ritual was successfully rescued. Meanwhile, the victim has been taken to a hospital for medical attention.”

Jimoh further explained how the two Suspects had planned to carry out their evil plan. “Preliminary investigations revealed that Maria conspired with her son, Adewale, to engage the services of an herbalist to use the victim for money ritual.”

He noted that the suspects are currently in police custody and have confessed to the crime.

DSP Jimoh added that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, warned parents to discourage their children from the “get-rich-quick” syndrome and to instill in them the values of hard work and integrity.

The Police Spokesperson appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police station.

Amotekun Arrests Bandits Fleeing Northern Airstrikes

Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has arrested 39 suspected bandits said to be fleeing Northern Nigeria following recent airstrikes on criminal enclaves in Sokoto State.

The suspects were apprehended in the Elegbeka Forest area of Ose Local Government, a location long identified by security agencies as a hotspot for kidnapping and armed robbery.

The State Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Tuesday in Akure while parading over 100 suspects arrested across the state during the festive period.

Adeleye disclosed that the 39 suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to relocate into Ondo forests due to intensified security operations in the North, adding that they are currently undergoing profiling.

He noted that suspects found without incriminating items may be repatriated to their states of origin, while those linked to weapons or other criminal materials would be prosecuted.

The commander also revealed that 61 other suspects were arrested for offences including kidnapping, armed robbery, car snatching, rape, assault and violations of the anti-open grazing law across the 18 local government areas of the state.

Adeleye affirmed that the arrests reflected a coordinated effort by Amotekun and sister security agencies to rid Ondo State of criminal elements, while commending Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for providing operational support to the corps.

NDLEA Nabs Suspect, Seizes Cannabis

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA,  in Ogun State, has uncovered a warehouse used for storing illicit drugs and intercepted a Honda Ridgeline pickup van loaded with Cannabis sativa in the Rounder area of Abeokuta.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Haris Musa, in Abeokuta explained that the discovery followed actionable intelligence, which led operatives to the location and resulted in the arrest of a 49–year-old suspect, Fatokun Rahmon.

Mr. Musa said operatives recovered a total of 347 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa during the carefully executed operation.

The NDLEA PRO explained that the successful interception highlighted the operational alertness, intelligence-driven approach and enforcement capacity of the agency in tackling drug-related crimes across the state.

Mr. Musa reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain the tempo of operations in line with its mandate to curb drug abuse and dismantle illicit drug trafficking networks in the state.

DSS Foils Fresh Kidnap, Arrests Professor’s Killers

Operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, have arrested two suspected kidnappers linked to the 2023 abduction and killing of a neurology professor, Professor Ekanem Philip-Ephraim, in Cross River State.

Professor Philip-Ephraim was abducted on July 13, 2023, from her office in Calabar, and was later confirmed murdered by her captors.

According to the then Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, Cross River State, Dr Felix Archibong, the kidnappers posed as patients, drew weapons while she attended to them, and abducted her around 7:15 p.m.

The abduction sparked outrage across the medical community, forcing the Cross River chapter of the NMA to withdraw services in protest while demanding her rescue.

DSS officials, who spoke anonymously on Monday, said operatives arrested the suspects on December 27, 2025, at a medical facility in the state while they were allegedly planning to kidnap another senior medical practitioner.

The suspects were identified as Patrick Essien Etim, 23, the alleged gang leader, and Bassey Antiha Asuquo, 40.

Security sources disclosed that the DSS had tracked the gang since July 2023, when armed men abducted the professor from her private clinic on Atimbo Road, Calabar, under the guise of seeking medical care.

“Our operatives arrested the leader of the gang and another accomplice responsible for the kidnapping and murder of Professor Ekanem Philip-Ephraim,” a source said.

The suspects have confessed, admitting that they killed her after collecting multiple ransom payments from her family.”

The source added that the arrests may finally bring closure to the professor’s family after two years of uncertainty and grief.

The suspects also reportedly confessed to kidnapping other victims and vandalising electricity infrastructure.

In a related development, DSS operatives also arrested another suspect, Isaac Ekpeyong, in connection with the criminal network.

According to the DSS, the arrests underscore the agency’s renewed focus on covert operations aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates and strengthening public safety nationwide.

Police Smash Kidnap Ring, Arrest Notorious Bandits

The Nigeria Police Force has scored a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of two notorious bandits and kidnapping kingpins linked to violent crimes across Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Kwara States.

Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT), working in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command, arrested the suspects on Friday, December 19, 2025, during a covert operation along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area.

Police identified the suspects as Abubakar Usman, alias Siddi, aged 26, and Shehu Mohammadu, alias Gide, aged 30.

Operatives apprehended both men at Komen–Masallaci village during the operation.

Items recovered from the suspects included a brand-new red Honda Ace 125 motorcycle, valued at ₦1.85 million and allegedly bought with ransom proceeds; ₦500,000 cash believed to be unspent ransom money; and one AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects belong to a notorious banditry and kidnapping syndicate terrorising communities across the North-West and North-Central regions.

Police further disclosed that the gang supplies arms and ammunition to other criminal elements.

The suspects are currently cooperating with investigators to help track down other members of the syndicate and recover more weapons.

Police also confirmed that Abubakar Usman was recently identified in a viral social media video where firearms and large sums of money were openly displayed.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks, curb banditry and kidnapping, and guarantee public safety nationwide.

The Police urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to strengthen ongoing operations.

Police Capture Two Notorious Bandits in Kwara

The Nigeria Police Force has announced a breakthrough in the fight against insecurity following the arrest of two notorious kidnapping kingpins whose operations spanned across four northern states.

In a statement released on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the suspects were apprehended during a high-stakes covert operation in Kwara State.

The operation, conducted by the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT) in collaboration with the Kwara State Command, led to the arrest of Abubakar Usman (alias Siddi), 26, and Shehu Mohammadu (alias Gide), 30.

“The suspects were intercepted along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State,” Hundeyin stated.

“Preliminary investigation revealed they are members of a notorious banditry and kidnapping gang terrorising communities across Zamfara, Katsina, Niger, and Kwara states,” he added.

The police recovered significant incriminating items during the raid, “including an AK-47 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition and ₦500,000 in cash, which the authorities identified as unspent ransom money.”

Also seized was a brand new Honda Ace 125 motorcycle valued at ₦1,850,000.

“Investigations revealed the motorcycle was purchased with proceeds of ransom payments.

“Further findings indicate that the gang also doubles as suppliers of arms and ammunition to criminal elements” the FPRO added.

One of the suspects, Abubakar Usman (Siddi), had reportedly been on the police radar for some time.

He was recently identified as the individual in a viral social media video seen flaunting illegal firearms and large sums of cash.

Hundeyin noted that the suspects are currently “cooperating with investigators to enable the arrest of other members of the syndicate and recovery of additional weapons.”

“The Force remains unwavering in its commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the IG was quoted as saying.

Police Nab Eight Alleged Yoruba Republic Agitators in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in connection with a disturbance linked to the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba group in parts of Sango-Ota.

The arrests were made following allegations of breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, obstruction of traffic, and assault on Police officers. 

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, Christmas Day, at Temidire Junction and the Under-Bridge area of Sango-Ota.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said in a statement on Friday that members of the group allegedly barricaded roads, set bonfires, disrupted traffic, and attacked officers deployed to maintain law and order.

Several items were recovered from the suspects, including a Toyota Dyna vehicle used for transportation, two broadcast speakers, a carton containing flags, shirts with agitation inscriptions, and banners displaying their messages and manifesto.

Babaseyi added that the suspects would be arraigned in court after the conclusion of investigations.

Alleged Armed Robber in Ogun Police Net

Operatives of the Ogun state Police have arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Adenekan Segun, popularly known as Expensive, in the Abeokuta area of the state.

The Command’s Spokesperson, Oluseyi Babeseyi, made this known in a statement in Abeokuta.

The statement disclosed that the suspect was arrested following credible information that he allegedly brandished two pump-action firearms during a minor disagreement with a person.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, Upon the information operatives of the anti-robbery squad, from the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, swung into action leading to his arrest and the recovery of two pump-action rifles.

The Police Public Relations Officer added that investigation is ongoing and on completion, the suspect will be charged to court.

Meanwhile, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the swift response of the operatives and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on armed robbery and illegal possession of firearms.

Commissioner Ogunlowo also assured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the Police.

NDLEA Seizes 7.6m Tramadol Pills

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and 76,273kg of cannabis varieties in coordinated operations across several states.

According to a statement issued by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy, the seizures were made during intelligence led raids in Delta, Imo, Adamawa, Ekiti, Ondo, Lagos, Abuja, Niger and Edo States.

In Asaba, Delta State, operatives found 3.8 million tramadol tablets and 252 litres of codeine syrup in a warehouse. Another 1.2 million tramadol pills were intercepted along the Onitsha–Owerri Road in Imo State.

In Adamawa, officers seized over 1.5 million tramadol and exol-5 capsules hidden in bags of slippers, while additional arrests followed in Kano and Niger States.

Major cannabis warehouses in remote forests were destroyed in Ekiti and Ondo States, where more than 68,000kg of cannabis was either seized or set ablaze. Five suspects were arrested in Igoba forest, Ondo, with 5,442kg recovered.

Further arrests and seizures were recorded in Lagos, Abuja and Edo, including consignments of Canadian Loud, Colorado and skunk.

The NDLEA also continued its drug education campaigns in schools and communities under the WADA initiative.

The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, has said that it has commenced investigation into the kidnap of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Wale Oriade in Ibadan.

‎The command Public Relations Officer, Mr Adewale Osifeso, stated this while confirming the incident to Radio Nigeria. 

Mr ‎Osifeso said the APC chieftain in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, was kidnapped by gunmen on Wednesday at around 7:00 p.m. in his office located at Elewure NNPC, Akala Expressway, New Garage, Ibadan.

Radio Nigeria gathered that Mr Oriade was kidnapped by three gunmen, who forced him into a blue Micra to an unknown destination. 

At the time of filing this report, the abductors were yet to contact the family of the victim.

Police Allay Fears of Ogun Residents over Rumoured Attack

Residents of Ogun State have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and to desist from sharing unverified information capable of creating fear.

The Commissioner of Police, Dr Lanre Ogunlowo gave the advice when he deployed Policemen and other security operatives to Ajebo community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government following a viral video circulating on social media that herdsmen were preparing to unleash violence on the host community.

Dr Ogunlowo noted that the operatives deployed to undertake thorough intelligence-led assessment in and around Ajebo community found out that no arms or suspicious activities were detected during the operation.

He added that the officers also discovered that the Fulani settlers in Ajebo were not hostile migrants but long-standing residents, living peacefully within the community.

The Police Commissioner said the combined team of security agencies would be maintaining surveillance within the forest area, approximately 10 kilometres from the main community, adding that their presence was strictly precautionary measure.

Dr Ogunlowo reassured residents of of their safety, pointing out that proactive intelligence measures remained fully in place.

Meanwhile, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, said that the town’s monarch, Oba Rueben Oluwole and the Baale of Alapako had been invited to a meeting with the Commissioner of Police for clarification over allocation of land to the settlers.

Police Rescue Three-year-old Stolen Toddler

The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a three-year-old girl in Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area, following reports of conspiracy, child theft, and illegal harbouring.

This was released in a press statement by the Anambra State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday.

The child was allegedly abducted by Chioma Anioma, an apprentice in the victim’s household. After realising police were closing in, Chioma reportedly sold the child and fled to Calabar, Cross River State, to evade arrest.

The girl was abducted in Atani, Ogbaru Local Government Area, but was rescued in Nnobi, Idemili LGA, after being sold.

Ikenga confirmed that officers from the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, recovered the child in the early hours of Friday through persistent, intelligence-led operations. The child has since been safely reunited with her parents.

The statement read in part: “The Anambra State Police Command wishes to inform the public that operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu, successfully recovered a stolen three-year-old girl following a case transferred from Ogbaru Division, Atani, involving conspiracy, child stealing, and harbouring.

“The operatives rescued the child at Nnobi, Idemili South LGA, and have since reunited her with her parents.

“Preliminary investigations revealed the child was stolen by Miss Chioma Anioma, an apprentice in the victim’s family. Upon realising police were closing in, the suspect fled to Calabar after selling the child to another suspect who remains at large.

“To evade further police pursuit, Chioma abandoned the child at Nnobi before alerting the parents to her location.

“Intensive efforts continue to identify and arrest all suspects involved in the abduction and trafficking syndicate.”

SP Tochukwu Ikenga disclosed that the command began investigating a child theft report received on September 4, 2025.

Swift action led by officers from the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka resulted in the arrest of the prime suspect, Samuel Ibe. His confession subsequently led to the arrest of his mother, Agatha Ejeweh (35), and younger brother, Ejeweh Chigozie Chidera (15).

Catholic Diocese Condemns Abduction of Students in Niger School

The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora has condemned the attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, where armed men reportedly abducted students, teachers, in the early hours of Friday.

In a statement issued on Friday by the Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Fr. Jatau Luka Joseph, the Diocese said the assailants invaded the school at midnight, during which a security personnel was shot and several members of the school community were taken away.

The statement read, “This is to inform us that armed attackers invaded St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Niger State, in the early hours of 21st November 2025, abducting some pupils, students, teachers, and a security personnel who was badly shot.

“The incident occurred between 1:00 am and 3:00 am, causing fear and distress within the school community.”

The Diocese condemned the attack and expressed deep concern for the safety of the kidnapped children and their families.

It said security agencies were immediately informed and have begun coordinated efforts to ensure the safe rescue and return of the victims.

Niger Govt. Condemns Abduction Of Students, Says School Ignored Red Alert

The Bishop assured the public that the Diocese is actively collaborating with security operatives, community leaders, and government authorities to secure the victims’ safe return.

The Diocese appealed for calm, urged the public to support ongoing security operations, and called on everyone to pray for the safe and quick rescue of those abducted.

It also reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of children and said further updates would be provided as verified information becomes available.

“May the Lord grant quick release to those abducted and continue to protect His people from all danger,” the statement added.

The incident comes days after a similar attack in Maga, Kebbi State, where 25 students were seized, raising concerns about the increasing insecurity in schools across the region.

In Kwara State, over 50 schools were shut down on Thursday following bandit attacks.

President Bola Tinubu cancelled planned trips to South Africa and Angola to coordinate the government’s response to the worsening security situation.

Niger Govt. Condemns Abduction Of Students, Says School Ignored Red Alert

The Niger State Government has condemned the abduction of pupils from St. Mary’s School in the Papiri area of Agwara Local Government Area, describing the incident as “deeply saddening and avoidable.”

In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Abubakar Usman, the government confirmed that the exact number of abducted pupils has not yet been established, as security agencies are still carrying out assessments and gathering accurate information.

The statement revealed that the government had earlier received credible intelligence indicating elevated security threats across parts of the Niger North Senatorial District.

Gunmen Abduct Students in Niger

Acting on these reports, the State Government said it directed the suspension of all construction activities and the temporary closure of boarding schools within the affected areas as a proactive safety measure.

Despite this directive, St. Mary’s School allegedly reopened and resumed academic activities without notifying or obtaining clearance from the government, a violation which, according to the SSG, exposed pupils and staff to severe risk.

Security agencies have since launched a full-scale investigation and intensified search-and-rescue operations to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils.

Gunmen Abduct Students in Niger

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped an undisclosed number of students during an attack on St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Niger State.

It was learnt that the attackers stormed the school, said to be a private Catholic school located in the Agwara Local Government Area of the state, in the early hours of Friday.

Sources said the gunmen arrived in large numbers, riding on over 60 motorcycles and accompanied by a van.

They were said to have shot the school’s gatekeeper, leaving him with serious injuries.

A source in Agwara who confirmed the incident said, “Yes, it happened between 3 and 4 a.m. The number of students abducted is not yet confirmed.”

Another source claimed that some teachers were also forcibly taken away during the attack.

“In the middle of the night, our community was shaken by a deeply tragic event. Bandits invaded St. Mary’s Primary and Secondary School, Papiri, Agwara LGA, Niger State. A Catholic private boarding school for boys and girls.

“Students and teachers were forcefully taken away during the attack.

“This is an extremely distressing moment for families, the communities, and Niger State as a whole. These are innocent young students and dedicated educators whose lives and futures are now at risk. Their safety must be a priority,” the source said.

As of the time of this report, the exact number of abducted individuals had yet to be confirmed by authorities.

However, community sources fear that the number of people kidnapped may be significant, with some claiming that it could exceed 100.

Meanwhile the Niger State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the students.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said tactical units, alongside military components and other security operatives, had been deployed to the area.

Abiodun stated that the combined security forces were currently conducting extensive search operations across the surrounding forests in an effort to ensure the immediate and safe rescue of the abducted students.

Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives by providing credible information that could assist ongoing rescue efforts.

Elleman, however, said that the incident would be thoroughly investigated, stressing that appropriate actions would be taken against the school management for continuing academic activities despite the state government’s earlier directive ordering the closure of schools in the area due to heightened security threats.

A 24 year old suspected cultist, Sulaiman Laja has been apprehended by Operatives of Ogun State Police Command in Igbesa area of the State.

The suspect, a member of the dreaded Aiye confraternity had been accused of allegedly terrorizing residents of Igbesa and its environs before his arrest.

The Police Public Relations officer, Omolola Odutola confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta.

She explained that the suspect who was sighted in a disguised appearance took the officers attached to Igbesa Divisional Police to his hideout where a thorough search led to recovery of a serviceable single-barrel gun, strongly believed to have been used for criminal activities within the community.

The Command’s Spokesperson said the suspect and the recovered exhibit would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

She reaffirmed commitment of the command to flushing out criminal elements and restoring peace, safety, and public confidence across all communities in the state.

NDLEA Busts Kingpin, Recovers Massive Skunk Loads

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a wanted drug baron, Mr. Frank Chijioke Ibemesi, alias Chisco Bee, after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Director, Media & Advocacy of NDLEA, Mr Femi Babfemi, operatives of the agency’s Special Operations Unit picked up the 42-year-old suspect, who is the Managing Director of Franc CJ Ibemesi Nig. Ltd., at his Daisy Garden Hotel on Ago Palace Way, Isolo, Lagos, in the early hours of 15 November.

NDLEA officers later led him to his warehouse on Pius Ezeobi Street, where they recovered 42 jumbo bags and four cartons of “Loud” cannabis weighing 1,762.8kg.

They also seized foreign currency found on him, including $11,600, £2,000, €2,200, and 50 Canadian dollars.

The agency also disrupted a major cannabis-processing syndicate in the Orita-Apeje and Araromi-Okeodo forest reserve in Ife South LGA, Osun State.

Operatives seized 11,135kg of skunk, two trucks used for distribution, and arrested seven suspects: Lucky Abiodun, Julius Amos, Victor Ngbikili, Sunday Oduegwu, Ibrahim Akanni, Eze Godstime, and Fred Ifeanyichukwu.

Across Edo State, NDLEA officers recovered 1,902.1kg of skunk, including 184.1kg along Oza/Igbanke road, 672kg from Utese forest, and 494kg from a Mercedes-Benz vehicle on the Benin–Akure road where a suspect, Felix Edah, 45, was arrested.

Another suspect, 51-year-old Lucky Abagha, was caught with 552kg of cannabis in a separate vehicle.

In Ogun State, operatives arrested four suspects—Micheal Okoh, Offor Agada, Raphael Nkemjika, and Nwabueze Franklin—with 68kg of skunk and 3.150kg of methamphetamine along the Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

In Taraba State, the agency arrested 50-year-old Danjuma Tukura, with 172kg of skunk at Sunkani in Ardo Kola LGA, and 24-year-oldWisdom Titus, 24, with 84kg at Takum.

NDLEA officers in Adamawa recovered 396,000 tramadol capsules from Ahmed Isyaku Nda, 50, at Aliyu Mustapha International Airport in Yola.

In Nasarawa, they evacuated 785kg of skunk from the warehouse of a dealer still at large in Asob Maraba Karu.

Multiple seizures were also recorded in Lagos where two suspects, Jamiu Kunle Kardoso and Oriyomi Waliu, were arrested in Surulere with 65.150kg of Canadian Loud, while Taofeek Moraina was arrested in Oyingbo with 141kg of Ghana Loud.

In Kwara State, operatives intercepted a truck conveying 197 blocks of skunk weighing 78.565kg and 155 cartons of rubber solutions on the Ilorin–Jebba Expressway and the driver, Umar Yakubu, was detained.

A commercial bus was also intercepted at Eiyenkorin with 20 blocks of skunk concealed in a 50-litre jerrycan, leading to the arrest of the driver, Ibrahim Bello.

Meanwhile, NDLEA commands across the country continued War against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaigns in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities in Zamfara, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Enugu, Lagos, and Ogun States.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the commands involved and urged officers nationwide to sustain the agency’s push for a drug-free Nigeria.

Police Foil Robbery Attempt in Sagamu

The Ogun State Police Command has foiled a robbery attempt in Sagamu, following a swift response by officers from the Sakura Division.

Police spokesperson Ms. Omolola Odutola said in a statement from Abeokuta that the incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

According to her, a distress call from the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Okearedi, Araromi—off the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway—reported that five armed hoodlums were attempting to break into a house.

Operatives immediately mobilised to the scene, forcing the suspects to flee in different directions.

Police pursued the gang and recovered their operational vehicle, a black Lexus with registration number (Ogun TTD 452 TT), at the entrance of the community.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Ogunlowo, commended the officers for their prompt action and professionalism.

Ms. Odutola added that the command had intensified patrols and deployed more personnel to identified crime flashpoints across the state to ensure public safety during the end-of-year period.

She also urged residents to remain vigilant, especially when returning home late at night.

Ogun Police Burst Cameroonian Human Trafficking Syndicate

The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a human trafficking and kidnapping syndicate operated by Cameroonian nationals who lured victims into Nigeria under the guise of visa processing.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, indicates that on the 4th of November, 2025, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Eleweran, responded to a distress call from a Cameroonian lady who reported being deceived into Nigeria by one Donald, a fellow national, who promised to secure a Canadian visa for her.

The victim, alongside her 23-year-old sister, was held hostage in Mowe, Ogun State, until she escaped on the 3rd of November and alerted the Police.

Following the tip-off, operatives stormed a two-bedroom apartment in Pakuro, Mowe, where another victim, Kengne Maeva, was rescued unhurt. Two suspects , Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen were arrested, while the principal suspect, Donald, remains at large.

Preliminary findings revealed that the victims’ relatives in Cameroon had paid a ransom of three point six million CFA into the fugitive’s bank account.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo,  has directed continuous surveillance and engagement with community leaders to report suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments across the state.

The Command assured that it remains committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring that criminals find no safe haven in Ogun State.

BREAKING: Court Fixes Nov 20 for Judgement in Kanu’s Terrorism Trial

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed judgment for November 20, 2025 in the terrorism trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice Omotosho chose the date on Friday while ruling after Kanu failed to open his defence having exhausted the six days allocated to him by the court to conduct his defence.

The judge said Kanu, having failed to utilise the opportunity granted him to conduct his defence, he cannot claim to have been denied the constitutionally guaranteed rights to fair hearing.

Ondo Police Rescue Kidnapped Victim, Arrest Four Suspects

The Police Command in Ondo State says it has rescued an abducted lady, Oluwaseun Adebayo, and arrested four suspects connected with the incident in Akure, the state capital.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Olushola Ayanlade, said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Akure.

Ayanlade, who said the rescue followed prompt action after an alert from a public-spirited citizen, explained that the incident occurred on November 4 at about 6:30 p.m.

He said subsequent investigations revealed that the victim, Adebayo, was abducted along Weluwelu Street, Ilekun, Oda, in Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

“A good Samaritan notified the Police that four young men driving an unregistered Toyota Camry, had forcefully abducted a lady, and were headed towards Shoprite roundabout in Akure.

“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the command’s personnel immediately mobilised and strategically blocked the suspects’ route.

“They successfully intercepted the vehicle leading to the arrest of all four assailants and the immediate rescue of the victim.

“Meanwhile, the victim was being taken to an unknown destination before the prompt intervention of our operatives,” he said.

Ayanlade explained that the timely coordination between the alert and police response proved pivotal in foiling what could have become another tragic case of abduction.

“In continuation of the investigation, the unregistered Toyota Camry Muscle Camry, used by the suspects, has been recovered as an exhibit.

“Meanwhile, the four suspects remain in custody as discreet inquiries continue to uncover further details surrounding the incident,” the spokesperson said.

He, therefore, said the Commissioner of Police (CP), Adebowale Lawal, commended the professionalism and swift response of his men, and also appreciated the vigilante members whose timely information aided the success of the operation.

Ayanlade said the CP emphasised that such collaboration underscored the growing trust between the police and the people, a key pillar of modern policing.

Police Capture Armed Gang Terrorizing Ikoyi-Ile

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested six suspected armed criminals in the Ikoyi-Ile area of Orire Local Government.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr AdewaleOsifeso, the suspects were linked to cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes that had terrorized the Ikoyi-Ile community.

Mr Osifeso said key members of the gang were apprehended in the Igbo-Awe Forest, near Iboran Village.

Items recovered from them include one AK-47 rifle with 15 rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones, four empty magazines, a Nigerian Army jungle hat, a life jacket, and a pair of army uniforms.

The police spokesman urged residents to report any suspicious activities promptly to help security agencies prevent crime across the state.

Ogun NDLEA Nabs Three with 1,779kg of Cannabis Sativa

The National Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, has arrested three persons with large consignment of cannabis sativa weighing 1,779 kilogrammes.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASN Haris Musa, on Sunday, in Abeokuta.
The suspects, Rauf Asogba (28); Seun Olaniyi (24) and Ayinla Adeniyi (50) were intercepted by the operatives of the Command while transporting the illicit substance from Imeko axis en route Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Saturday.

The spokesperson said the illicit consignment were concealed in a J5 vehicle and was uncovered following sustained surveillance and tactical maneuvering by the Command’s operatives.
He noted that the seizure was one of the Command’s most remarkable operations in recent times, which has further demonstrated the NDLEA’s unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the circulation of illicit substances in Ogun State.

In his reaction, the State Commander, CN Tijjani Rabe, commended the professionalism, courage, and dedication displayed by the officers involved in the operation.

He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to sustain the momentum in the ongoing war against drug abuse and illicit trafficking across the State.

Commander Rabe also appealed to members of the public to continue supporting the Agency by providing credible and timely information that would aid the NDLEA in achieving its vision of a drug-free Ogun State and, by extension, a drug-free Nigeria.

Police Rescue Teenager from Suspected Kidnappers

The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a 14-year-old boy unhurt during a joint security operation in Ka’oje, Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Aliyu Alhaji Shehu (alias Altine), 25, and Abubakar Umar (alias Bube), both from Orda village in Bagudo LGA, were apprehended following a gun battle between police operatives and the kidnappers in Sada forest.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the operation followed a report that a gang of five armed men had, on October 18, invaded the home of one Alhaji Buda Sambo, abducting his 14-year-old son, Aliyu Buda, and whisking him away to an unknown destination.

“Acting on credible intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer, Ka’oje, mobilised a combined team of policemen and local vigilantes who pursued the hoodlums into Sada forest and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.
“As a result of the superior firepower of the team, the kidnappers fled into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds,” the statement partly read.
The police said the kidnapped boy was later rescued unhurt and reunited with his family after receiving medical attention.

During a search operation, a locally made revolver and one live ammunition were recovered from the residence of one of the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects and their fleeing accomplices identified as Dogo, Magaji, Bande, and Janyo, all from Bagudo and Orda villages were responsible for multiple kidnapping incidents, including the abduction of a 70-year-old man, Alhaji Alti, on October 28.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the Ka’oje Divisional Police Officer and his team for their professionalism and swift response.

He urged them to sustain the synergy with local vigilantes to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes in the area.

The commissioner further directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.

He appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue to support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing operations.
