The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a human trafficking and kidnapping syndicate operated by Cameroonian nationals who lured victims into Nigeria under the guise of visa processing.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, indicates that on the 4th of November, 2025, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Eleweran, responded to a distress call from a Cameroonian lady who reported being deceived into Nigeria by one Donald, a fellow national, who promised to secure a Canadian visa for her.
The victim, alongside her 23-year-old sister, was held hostage in Mowe, Ogun State, until she escaped on the 3rd of November and alerted the Police.
Following the tip-off, operatives stormed a two-bedroom apartment in Pakuro, Mowe, where another victim, Kengne Maeva, was rescued unhurt. Two suspects , Ndzana Kamga Isidore and Tingue Stephen were arrested, while the principal suspect, Donald, remains at large.
Preliminary findings revealed that the victims’ relatives in Cameroon had paid a ransom of three point six million CFA into the fugitive’s bank account.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has directed continuous surveillance and engagement with community leaders to report suspicious foreign nationals renting apartments across the state.
The Command assured that it remains committed to protecting lives and property while ensuring that criminals find no safe haven in Ogun State.
