The Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA, has firmly dismissed claims circulating on social media alleging plans to rotate the chairmanship of the state’s traditional council.

The Assembly also reaffirmed its determination to defend its institutional integrity against misinformation, fake news, and malicious falsehoods.

This clarification came in a statement issued by the Speaker, Prince Adewale Egbedun, through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, in response to a post published on a Facebook page identified as “Ashiwaju Omo Yoruba,” which falsely suggested that the legislature was considering such a move.

Prince Egbedun described the online publication as entirely false and unrelated to the activities of the House, warning that unchecked misinformation could erode public trust in democratic institutions.

“There has been no communication submitted to, received by, or acknowledged within the legislative chamber regarding the rotation of chairmanship among traditional rulers in the state. No committee of the House, including the Committee on Chieftaincy Matters, has discussed or scheduled deliberations on such an issue”, the statement declared.

The Speaker cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified information, particularly on sensitive cultural and traditional matters, noting that the misleading post did not emanate from any recognised channel of the House of Assembly.

Prince Egbedun reassured residents of Osun State of his unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability in legislative processes.

Ogun State House of Assembly has acknowledged a correspondence  from the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun seeking the Assembly’s approval for the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF for the State.

The Speaker, Mr Oludaisi Elemide, who read the Governor’s letter  titled: “Request for the approval of the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF by the State House of Assembly”, noted that the request was in line with the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law of 2020 as amended.

According to the letter, the Executive Council had considered and endorsed the prepared 2026- 2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF for the State.

The governor therefore urged the Assembly to consider and approve the framework to pave the way for the planning and budgetary process for the 2026 fiscal year and the outer years of 2027 and 2028.

The Speaker later referred the request to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations for further legislative action.

The National Assembly has unsealed the office of the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

According to reports, her office, located in Suite 2.05 of the Senate Wing, was unsealed on Tuesday morning by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the National Assembly, assisted by security personnel.

The office had been under lock and key since March 6, 2025, when the senator was suspended from the Red Chamber.

In a video shared on Tuesday, the Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms, Alabi Adedeji, was seen removing the red seal on the office door.

“I, Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director, Sergeant-at-Arms, hereby unseal the office. The office is hereby unsealed. Thank you,” he said in the video.

The embattled lawmaker was, in March, handed a six-month suspension by the Senate, which also barred her from participating in all activities of the 10th Senate over alleged misconduct during her protest against the reassignment of her seat by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on February 20.

Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension ended in September 2025, but she was unable to resume duties due to ongoing legal disputes and opposition from the Senate leadership.

On July 4, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that the suspension was excessive and unconstitutional.

The senator had written to the upper chamber to notify it of her intention to resume duties after the expiration of her suspension, but the National Assembly rejected her request.

It is, however, unclear whether the development grants the lawmaker full access to her office and the premises of the National Assembly, as the Senate is yet to issue a resolution on the matter.

It also yet unknown whether the embattled senator will resume with her colleagues when the Senate reconvenes for plenary in October.
