Read to broaden your minds – Hon. Adisa Charges Youths

Nigerian youths have been advised to broaden their minds through reading and sharpen their ability to understand people in order for them to become good leaders.

The lawmaker representing Afijio State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, Mr. Seyi Adisa gave the advice while featuring on Political Space, an interview programme on Premier FM 93.5 Ibadan.

Mr. Adisa who encouraged the youths to develop their potential also urged them to be willing and ready to serve humanity.

The lawmaker, who is also the chairman of Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Foreign Relations, stated that constant educational curriculum review is necessary to bridge the leadership gap, urged aspiring leaders to learn from intelligent global leaders.

Mr. Adisa called on Nigerian youths to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and value-adding spirit to make a meaningful impact on society.

OYHA Passes SMSEs Funding Bill Into Law

Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, has passed the State Enterprise and Employment Trust Fund Bill into law.

The bill sponsored by the lawmaker representing Afijio State constituency, Mr. Seyi Adisa, was passed into law after scaling through the third reading.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria Correspondent shortly after the passage of the bill, Mr. Adisa said the law was aimed at providing training for youths and residents of Oyo State for them to become fit for employment opportunities.

He said the law would also help Small and Medium Scale Enterprises get funding and support for their businesses.

Speaker of the House, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin commended the sponsor of the bill and said it would be transmitted immediately to the governor for executive assent.

OYHA Urges MDAs To Tackle Sexual Harassment

Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, has lamented the increasing level of sexual molestation of women especially in public offices. 

This followed a motion on the need to address rising cases of sexual violence against women in Oyo State presented to the House by member representing Ogbomoso North State constituency, Mrs. Wunmi Oladeji.

Mrs. Oladeji expressed displeasure that public offices were becoming a haven where female workers are being induced with material or monetary pressures to sexually abuse them.

The lawmaker called on appropriate Ministries Departments and Agencies to set machinery in motion to implement the recently assented Violence against Persons Law to complement other measures. 

Contributing, lawmaker representing Afijio State Constituency, Mr. Seyi Adisa who showed concern on the development, especially in public institutions, called for collaboration among law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to take care of victims.

In his resolution, Speaker of the House, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin passed the motion’s resolutions, adding that The Office of the Head of Service should take immediate action in line with extant service regulations to discipline employees who harass other employees and provide protection for employees who report harassment.
