Oyo State House of Assembly, OYHA, has lamented the increasing level of sexual molestation of women especially in public offices. 

This followed a motion on the need to address rising cases of sexual violence against women in Oyo State presented to the House by member representing Ogbomoso North State constituency, Mrs. Wunmi Oladeji.

Mrs. Oladeji expressed displeasure that public offices were becoming a haven where female workers are being induced with material or monetary pressures to sexually abuse them.

The lawmaker called on appropriate Ministries Departments and Agencies to set machinery in motion to implement the recently assented Violence against Persons Law to complement other measures. 

Contributing, lawmaker representing Afijio State Constituency, Mr. Seyi Adisa who showed concern on the development, especially in public institutions, called for collaboration among law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders to take care of victims.

In his resolution, Speaker of the House, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin passed the motion’s resolutions, adding that The Office of the Head of Service should take immediate action in line with extant service regulations to discipline employees who harass other employees and provide protection for employees who report harassment.
