The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Mr Joseph Goburn has charged officers and men of the zone to be professional, ethical and committed to the task of protecting lives and property of Nigeria.

He gave the charge in his maiden address to the officers at the command’s headquarters in Osogbo.

Mr Goburn charged the police officers that Nigeria was facing security threat both internal and external, but which are surmountable with commitment of dedicated men.

The Zone 11 AIG reminded them that since they had sworn to protect lives and property of Nigerians, it behooved on them to prove their worth with courage and resilience in overcoming the challenges.

He also tasked them to be abreast of all necessary materials required to improve their mental capacity and their knowledge of the law, with a view to respecting the rights of citizens and function efficiently among the civil populace.

Mr Goburn gave the assurance that the inspector General of Police, Mr Alkali Baba Usman was relentless in ensuring improvement in the welfare of police officers in the country.

Responding on behalf of other officers, a Deputy Commissioner of Police Zonal CID promised a renewed commitment of officers and men in the zone to policing Nigeria and remain loyal to the country.

Prayers were later conducted by the Police Chaplain and Imam for a successful tenure for the AIG.

A new Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 11, Mr Olasupo Babatunde Ajani has resumed duty at the Zonal Headquatres in Osogbo, Osun State.
Nigeria Police Zone 11 comprises of Oyo and Osun States.
Mr Olasupo Ajani is taking charge of the vacant seat of the AIG at the Zonal headquarters since the retirement of Mr Agunbiade Olasore in January this year.
Before his deployment, Mr Ajani who was promoted to the position of Assistant Inspector General in year 2020 served as the AIG in charge of Police Investment,Force Headquarters,Abuja.
Before then he had served in various police formations including peace keeping mission in Kosovo,Eastern Europe, Police Special Fraud Unit and as the Commandant of the Police College, Ikeja Lagos.
Mr Ajani was also actively involved in putting an end to the Ife/Modakeke war and was honoured with the Osun State Merit award in year 2005 for his role in ending the communal hostility.
The new Zone11 Assistant Inspector General of Police bagged a Bachelor degree Combined Honours in Education from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Outgoing Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Zone 11, Mr. Agunbiade Olasore has called for review of the curriculum of police training in Nigeria.

Mr. Olasore spoke at the valedictory parade to mark his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force, after thirty five years of exploits in the service.

The Retiring Assistant Inspector General suggested the incorporation of citizenship, valour of service as police officers, military and other para military courses into the curriculum.

Mr. Olasore also called for a technology driven police system in Nigeria, in line with the reality of contemporary crimes which are more technology aided.

He explained that the ongoing police reform would impact greatly on the character of policing in the country as it would increase the consciousness of the public and police officers alike to know that providing security required the collaboration of all.

Mr. Olasore advised serving men and officers to conduct their duties with compliance to the rule of Law and decorum, obtainable in the twenty first century society.

Also speaking, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olawale Olokode congratulated the outgoing AIG for his meritorious service to Nigeria since he enlisted into the force.

Mr. Olokode assured residents of Osun state that the police would not rest on its oars to stem the tide of thuggery and ritual killings prevalent in the state.

In a remark, Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola who was represented by his Special Assistant on Security matters, Mrs. Abiodun Ige commended the police for working assiduously to sustain the profile of the state as the most peaceful in Nigeria.

Governor Oyetola encouraged men and officers of the force to be professional in their conduct so as to gain the confidence of the people.

The retiring AIG in charge of Zone 11,comprising of Oyo and Osun states was born in Idominasi in Obokun Local Government area of Osun state.

He enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on the first of February1986 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent and rose to the position of AIG.

The valedictory parade was attended by the father of the retired AIG, Chief Olasore, traditional rulers, retired senior police officers as well as all the chiefs of security services in Osun state, including the Nigeria Army and Airforce, the Nigeria immigration service, the Nigerian Civil Defense Corps and the Correctional Services.

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 20,356 senior police officers from one rank to the other.
Among those promoted are nine Commissioners of Police who have become Assistant Inspectors General of Police, and nine Deputy Commissioners of Police who are now Commissioners of Police.
Disclosing this in a statement on Thursday, January 28, 2021, the PSC’s Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani said that the promotion was decided on at the 11th Plenary Meeting of the Commission, held in Abuja on Wednesday, January 25, and presided over by its Chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police.
The Commission also approved the promotion of three Chief Superintendents to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 1,577 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents of Police and 2,293 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents of Police.
In addition, the promotion and confirmation of 7,283 unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents (ASP11) to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP1), 9,072 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP11) and 110 Inspectors to Senior Inspectors, was approved.
Ani gave the names of the new Assistant Inspectors General as Aminu Saleh Pai, former Commissioner of Police Kwara and Bayelsa States; Dasuki Danbappa Galadanchi, former Commissioner of Police/Executive Secretary, the Police Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, Lagos, and presently acting AIG, Force CID Annex, Lagos; Okon Etim Ene, former Commissioner of Police Benue and Abia State Commands; and Abang B. John, former Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Command and presently Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command.
Others are Joseph Gobum Mukan, Former CP, Airport Command, Lagos and currently CP Rivers State; Aji Ali Janga, former CP Kaduna and Kogi State Commands and currently CP Sokoto; Mukaddas Mohammed Garba, presently CP Benue State Command; Habu Sani Ahmadu, former CP, IGP Monitoring Unit; CP Intelligence, Force Headquarters and CP Bauchi State Command and presently CP Kano State and Imohimi D. Edgal, former Commissioner of Police Lagos and Akwa Ibom State Command’s.
The nine DCPs promoted to CPs are Abubakar Adamau Alhaji, presently DCP Operations, Rivers State; Benjami Nebolisa Okolo, currently at the National Defence College, Abuja; Abdul-Yari Laffia Shuyamu, currently DCP, Finance and Administration, Taraba State Command; Oyediran Adesoye Oyeyemi, DCP State CIID Ebonyi; Samaila Shu’aibu Dikko, DCP State CIID Adamawa and Jimwan David Dazong DCP Zonal CIID, Zone 12 Bauchi.
Others are Monday Bala Kuryas, DCP Operations, Ondo State; Hussaini Rabiu, DCP, Operations Imo State and Rabi Umar, former Assistant Force Secretary and presently DCP, Force Education, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The three Chief Superintendents of Police promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police are Gotom Tijani Richard, Joseph Kaide O, and Giade Sabo Abubaka.

Promoted ASPs to DSPs include; Uche Chigbu, Special Anti Cult Unit, Asaba, Delta State; Auwalu Bala Yakubu, Operations, Gombe State; Edward Imaobong Force CIID, Anti Fraud Unit, Force Headquarters.; Hassan Hamidu, Bauchi State Command; Godson Nwosu, Bayelsa State Command; Oyinloye Ayonde, Oyo State Command and Onalo Michael, Police Staff College Jos.

Some of the newly promoted ASP11 are Steven Onihana, Zone 2, Lagos; Christiana Johnson; Hussan Hussaini Sarauta Mohammed; Agbodike Dorothy and Idakwo Ezekiel.
Chairman of the Commission, Smith, called on the newly promoted Officers to see their new positions as a call to more commitment to the duty. He noted that the Commission would continue to ensure that promotions are regular and based on the relevant rules and regulations.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Zone Eleven, Mr Oluyemi Agunbiade has called on people to shun the act of ethinicising criminality to avoid mayhem.

Mr Agunbiade stated this at the Oyo State Police Headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan during a familiarisation tour to the command.

He said the visit became imperative to address the security problems bedeviling the state.

Mr Agunbiade stated further that with the support of the public, the police was ready to tackle insecurity, irrespective of tribe, religion or culture.

In her address, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko, who is the first female to hold the office in Oyo State, said she would further implement effective security strategies to ensure that the people of Oyo State sleep with both eyes closed.

Commissioner Onadeko, therefore pledged to work effectively with the people of Oyo State and also promised never to let them down as securing lives and property remains her priority.

A new commissioner of police today assumed duty in Ekiti state.

He is Mr Mobayo Babatunde, an indigene of Kogi State.

Mr Babatunde replaced Mr Amba Asuquo who was recently elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspector General, AIG of police.

At a meeting with officers of the Ekiti State Police Command, the new CP reiterated his readiness to work in accordance with the vision and objectives of the community policing policy introduced by the Inspector General of Police, Mr Adamu Mohammed.

Mr Babatunde told them that he would prioritize professionalism, honesty, transparency, firmness, and dedication to duty.

The new CP who promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, Mr Amba Asuquo, said the command under his leadership would partner relevant agencies and bodies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property in the state.

Mr Babatunde sought full cooperation of members of the public by giving useful and timely information to enable the command to rid Ekiti of all forms of criminal activities.
