Eminent Nigerians, families and friends have converged on Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ibadan, to witness the funeral mass of Barrister Angela Folarin, late wife of Senator representing Oyo central senatorial district, Teslim Folarin.

Our correspondent, who was at the church auditorium at Iyana Bodija, Iwo road-Ojoo expressway, reports that the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, Past and Present Lawmakers, as well as, other top government officials, graced the occasion.

The church auditorium witnessed an unprecedented crowd as dignitaries trooped in, awaiting the arrival of the remains of Angela Nwaka Folarin.

Laid in a white and gold casket, the body of Angela Folarin arrived at the church around past ten o’clock in the morning, alongside the bereaved husband and family members.

In a sermon, Dean, North Deanery, Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Very Reverend Felix Ethapeme said Late Angela lived a fulfilled life in total service to God and humanity.

Very Reverend Ethapeme noted that though she died at her prime, her deeds while alive would remain evergreen.

The Cleric admonished the congregation to reflect on their lives and dedicate it to God as everyone who eventually die.

Speaking on behalf of the deceased family, her son, Faisal Folarin said his mother was a brave and superwoman and she would be greatly missed.

Prayers were offered for the deceased and the family she left behind, after which her remains was transported to a private cemetery along Ibadan-Oyo road where she was lowered into the grave.

Angela Nwaka Folarin was born on the 23rd July, 1974 and died on the 28th of last month at the age of 47.

Idris Bolaji Abiola-Ajimobi on Saturday said the death of the wife of the senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Angela Folarin calls for prayers for Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria.

Idris Ajimobi has condoled with the immediate family of the late legal practitioner, particularly her husband and the entire Ibadanland.

In a statement he personally signed in Lagos, he said, “though Aunty Angela Folarin died at the time her husband needs her support, I’m urging Senator Teslim Folarin to consider and accept the death as the will of God”.

He said; “Madam Angela was a great wife of Ibadanland. Her death came at the time her husband needs her support. I know her to be a good wife, a caring and dear sister”.

“I, therefore, ask the teeming indigenes of Ibadanland and Oyo State as a whole to devote time for prayers for the state. Recently we lost a former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewunmi, a Senior Chief of Ibadanland and many other prominent people of the state.”

“I condole with my uncle, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin on the demise of his wife. I pray God in His infinite mercies to comfort him and the family of the late wife.”

A member of the House of Representatives, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe has described the death of late Chief Angela Nwaka Folarin, as a devastating blow, to the people of Oyo State, which is too painful to fathom. 

Angela Folarin, 47 years, is the wife of a high ranking Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Teslim Folarin, representing Oyo Central Senatorial District. 

Mourning Angela Folarin’s passing, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe called for prayers in the state, noting that the rate of deaths needs prayers. 

The Oluyole Federal Constituency representative said, “Angie as I fondly call you, I can’t believe you’re gone, so soon, so suddenly. Wow, life is indeed a mystery. Warm, sweet, kind-hearted, loving, full of life Angie, rest in peace at the bosom of the Lord”.  

“Death is a price all must pay but when one so young, so full of life departs, it leaves a hollowness in all our hearts, but who are we to question God? All we can say is may the Almighty console her loved ones and grant her peaceful rest in paradise. May she live on in our memories and may those memories bring succour to her loved ones”. 

Akande-Sadipe, who chairs the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs prayed for the repose of late Chief Mrs Angela Folarin’s soul and the fortitude of her family to bear the loss. 

“May the Almighty console your husband, the children, your mother, siblings and the people of Oyo Central, all of whom you loved dearly”, she concluded.

A former Commissioner for Health in Oyo State, Dr Azeez Adeduntan has commiserated with the senator representing Oyo Central, Teslim Folarin over the death of his wife, Angela.

In a condolence message in Ibadan, Dr Adeduntan expressed shock over the death of Barrister Angela Folarin.

The International cardiovascular surgeon described the death of Barrister Angela as an irreparable loss to the Folarins, her own family as well as Ibadanland.

“I was shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic loss of your darling wife and can’t just express those sad feelings currently within me now”.

“My heart aches for you as a loving husband; the children of the deceased and the entire family she left behind”.

“I convey my deep condolences to you, your children and families.”

The Osi Basorun of Ibadanland noted that the contribution of Late Angela to the uplift of the downtrodden masses would be remembered forever.

The Oyo State governorship hopeful prayed to God to rest the soul of the deceased in peace and give strength to Senator Folarin to overcome this painful loss.
