Former US President, Barack Obama will appear on stage in Glasgow this year as part of a UK tour.
Obama will visit the OVO Hydro venue on 14 October to discuss “what comes next for America, for all of us”.

His speaking tour will also take in dates in Belfast on 13 October and Manchester on 15 October.

Obama, who served as 44th president between 2009 and 2017, was the first black president of the US and was elected on a message of hope and change.

It will not be Obama’s first trip to Scotland. He was in Glasgow for climate conference COP26 in 2021, and he has also played golf at St Andrews.
During two terms in office, he led reform of the healthcare system with “Obamacare” and helped negotiate the Paris climate agreement.
He also oversaw the reduction of US forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and thawed relations between Iran and Cuba.

In 2009 he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in international diplomacy.

In the aftermath of his presidency he set up The Obama Foundation, which says its mission is to “inspire, empower and connect people to change their world”.

Promoters say audiences at his UK tour will get chance to hear that message in person.
