The former pioneer chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress added that religious organizations have not helped matters as places of worship focused much on prayers for financial miracles and breakthroughs without work.

He argued that the development was worsened by the about thirty years of military rule in Nigeria which destroyed the moral fabric, political and economic progress of the country.

Chief Akande pointed out that the pain being experienced under the current administration were unavoidable consequences of the previous maladministration, stressing that the country must be made to work for the people.

The elder statesman, however, called for attitudinal change, which according to him is cardinal to any desired socio political and economic progress, as no government can any perform magic without disciplined citizens.
