The newly sworn in Caretaker Chairman, Ejigbo Local Government Council Gbolahan Ayegbayo has assured people of his jurisdiction an all inclusive and citizen friendly style of leadership.

He stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria on his plan for the people of Ejigbo.

Mr. Ayegbayo promised to prioritize welfare of the people, be up and doing in the area of infrastructural development and make sure that adequate security was guaranteed in the area.

“Since we have been commissioned to take over  the mantle of leadership, knowing fully well that our governor has been performing wonders in the state,we shall build on the legacy.welfare of our people is paramount ,provision of infrastructural amenities is essential and we will do all to ensure adequate security” Ayegbayo said.

Mr.Ayegbayo also called on people of the area to cooperate with the government to uplift the region.

On his part, the Vice Chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Oladipupo explained that the new administration was determined to uplift Ejigbo Local Government and promised to work with all citizens.

Education

Students of Aperin-Oniyere Commercial Grammar School, Ibadan have sent an SOS to Oyo state government over infrastructural decadence in the school, stressing that most of the classrooms are dilapidated. 

Some of the students who spoke with Radio Nigeria on the condition of anonymity alleged that they always bring their mothers’ clothes to spread on the floor in the classrooms to receive lectures.

In their remarks, teachers at the school, complained about inadequate furniture, saying that the chairs and desks in their classes were not only inadequate but old and rickety.

Residents of the area also joined others to call on Governor Seyi Makinde to come to the aid of the school by ensuring that it benefits from the budgetary increment accruable to education under his administration.

The Principal of the school who spoke with our correspondent on the status of anonymity cited long neglect and poor maintenance of the school, as well as an inadequate grant from the government to education as factors responsible for infrastructural decay.

Reacting, the caretaker Chairman, Ibadan South East Local Government, Mr. Oluwole Alawode said the plights of the school will be critically looked into and possible intervention will follow in due course.

Mr. Alawode who enjoined pupils at the school to be patient with the government adding that the present administration in the state is committed to improving education.
