Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde was a leading guest of honour at the funeral service held for late Ibadan business magnate, Chief Bode Akindele at the Methodist Church, Agbeni, Ibadan.

In a remark, Governor Seyi Makinde described late Chief Bode Akindele as a philanthropist who had left indelible mark in Oyo State as well as Nigeria.

The governor explained that the fatherly counsel he received from the late Parakoyi of Ibadan had helped to redefine his approach to Oyo State economic challenges.

In a sermon entitled: ‘Christ the Living Hope’, the prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Chukwuemeka Uche said Christ was the living hope that propels Christians to move closer to God.

The cleric, who lamented the prevalence of injustice, corruption and incessant killings in Nigeria, challenged court of law in Nigeria to live up to expectation, especially during election.

While commending the exemplary life of late Chief Bode Akindele, the cleric urged Nigerians to contribute to the socio economic development of of the country.

The cleric urged the children to preserve the legacies left behind by their father.

One of the sons of the deceased, Bolaji Akindele, said his father was a disciplinarian who taught them to be diligent in life.

Nigerians, especially the youths have been advised to be guided by hard work and fear of God to fulfil their destiny.

The first wife of the late Parakoyi of Ibadanland, Chief Bode Akindele, Chief Mrs Olabisi Ayinke Akindele gave the advice today in Lagos while receiving a condolence message from the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan National Station, Alhaji Mohammed Bello.

Mrs Akindele noted that the late business mogul was able to succeed in life because he did it with the fear of God.

She emphasized that through hard work, young people could also be successful in spite of current challenges without cutting corners.

She expressed appreciation on behalf of the family for the show of love by the management and staff of Radio Nigeria Ibadan.

Earlier, the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Alhaji Mohammed Bello had described late Chief Bode Akindele as a man with a large heart whose philanthropic nature touched the lives of many people.

Speaking through the Deputy Director Marketing, Mrs Bola Owoyemi, Alhaji Bello said the corporation enjoyed a mutually rewarding partnership with the late Ibadan High Chief.

In an interview, one of the children of the deceased, Bolaji Akindele, said they would strive to build on the legacy of their father, who left a vacuum that would be difficult to fill.

On his part, the Company Secretary and Legal Adviser to the Akindele business conglomerate, Mr Oluwole Ikotun said the deceased related with his workers like a father.

On the FRCN delegation were the Deputy Director Marketing, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, Deputy Director News, Revd Olusegun Ayankoso and Deputy Director Programmes, Mrs Bolatito Joseph.

Chief Bode Akindele, a popular Ibadan business mogul, has reportedly died this morning.

According to report Chief Akindele, the Parakoyi of Ibadan, passed on at his Marine road Apapa résidence Monday morning .

The Illustrious Ibadan businessman, Chief Bode Akindele, was a philanthropist and a man committed to the development of his community and the nation at large.
