As Christians in the Pace Setter State join fellow faithful across the world in celebrating Christmas to mark the birth of Jesus Christ, the Oyo State House of Assembly has enjoined all citizens in the state to continue in the spirit of Love, Peace, Giving and Tolerance which the birth of Jesus Christ signifies.

This was stated in a release issued by the Chairman House Committee on Information, Media, ICT and Public Affairs, Mr. Waheed Akintayo in his message to congratulate Christians in Oyo State.

Mr. Akintayo declared that the peaceful coexistence  in the state has pave the way for rapid development , while adding that the Present Administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde will not leave any stone unturned in making policies that will be of great benefit to all and sundry.

Mr. Akintayo called on Christians in the State to imbibe the lessons of the birth and life of Jesus Christ by continue to live in peace and harmony with their neighbours as ambassadors of Jesus Christ on earth.

“We must reflect deeply on the reason for the season. The birth of Jesus Christ is significant in many ways. It teaches love, tolerance and sacrifice.  Let us celebrate and imbibe the lessons in this season of joy and happiness”. 

“In the spirit of the season, let us take time to reflect on the essence of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago. Let us Continue in loving one another and promote the happiness of all.”

He revealed that the 10th Assembly in Oyo State has been a very active participant in the process of State development,  and will always remain unwavering in the implementation of its legislative Agenda as well as keeping faith with  the people of Oyo State.

“Oyo State House of Assembly will continue to promote good governance, so that we can maintain our developmental status and set our State firmly on the path of Progress, Peace and Unity already in practice. “

He revealed further that the Oyo State House of Assembly will not relent in maintaining a cordial relationship with other Arms of Government inorder to enhance more Growth in all sectors of the economy.

“The 10th Assembly in Oyo State has been working with the Executive Arm in the last eighteen months to improve service delivery by government and all its institutions to raise the standard of living of the entire citizenry.”

“In this season of joy, may the birth of  Jesus Christ  resonate within us all , guilding  our thoughts,  words, and  actions”.

“This is another opportunity to say compliment of the season and to wish all the residents and people of Oyo State a Merry Christmas and a peaceful holiday season.” the statement concluded

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has felicitated with Christians in in the state and beyond on the occasion of this year’s Christmas celebration, urging them to emulate Jesus Christ’s example of compassion and tolerance.

Governor Adeleke, who described the birth of Jesus Christ as a defining moment for mankind, said the festive season is a solemn reminder of the power of love and how it can save humanity.

While recognizing unity and togetherness as an important message that Jesus Christ’s life resonates, Governor Adeleke charged Osun people, particularly Christians, to draw from the spiritual import of the celebration by sharing love and fostering harmony in communities.

“I extend my warm wishes to the Christian faithful in Osun State and beyond as we mark this year’s Christmas. The birth of Jesus Christ manifests the power of love and reminds us of the essence of compassion,”. 

He urges the people to reflect on the message of renewal that the birth of Jesus Christ signifies, promoting activities that will unite not divide, build not destroy, and bring peace, not conflict.

Governor Adeleke sincerely appealed to the people to extend hands of kindness to the needy and the weak in society, spreading love and generosity beyond borders.

“That is the essence of Christmas and it is most essential that at a time like this, no one is left to their fate.”

While wishing for hitch-free celebration and prosperous 2025, Governor Adeleke assured Osun people that his government will continue to pursue development projects, noting that more investments in the wellbeing of Osun people will be made so as to drive the expected progress next year.

A priest at Saint Anne’s Church, Molete, Ibadan, The Reverend Samuel Aina has advised Christians to emulate the humility of Jesus Christ which he exhibited during his lifetime.
The Reverend Aina gave the advice in a sermon during the Palm Sunday service held in the church.
He explained that Jesus Christ throughout his lifetime preached humility and love.
The Reverend Aina noted that even when Jesus Christ was going to Jerusalem for his crucifixion, he still rode on an ass which showed humility.

The service featured a dance around the church area with the congregation waving palm fronds.
Palm Sunday is the last day of lent which begins the passion or holy week heralding Jesus’ crucifixion.
