The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC for Oyo state, Dr. Adeniran Tella says the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise will last for one year and will be suspended as from 30th August, 2026.

Dr Tella stated this while addressing journalists at a media briefing as part of activities to sensitize residents on the INEC continuous voter registration exercise which has commenced since last week Monday.

While appealing to residents not to wait till the end of the exercise before registering at the commission’s state and local government offices, Dr Tella said two of the INEC Voter Enrolment Device, IVED, Machines have been placed either at the State Office or in all its 33 INEC LGA Offices for seamless registration.

He said to decongest the registration centres, already registered voters who want to replace or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards may not to visit the designated centres but perform such task online via https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/Public/getStarted

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Oyo State, has commenced a new round of Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise.

In a statement by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC in the state, Dr. Adeniran Tella, the online pre registration of the CVR for eligible voters began yesterday while in-person registration commences next week Monday.

According to Dr Tella, the eligibility for the registration included Nigerian citizens who have attained the age of 18 years and above and have never registered before; registered voters who wish to transfer their voting locations from one place to another and registered voters who have had defaced or lost Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, and require replacement.

Others include registered voters who need to correct their personal information on the voter register and Individuals who have registered before but whose name did not appear on the Voters’ Register.

Dr Tella urged eligible Nigerians to visit www.cvr.inecnigeria.org or www.cvr.inec.gov.ng  for the online pre registration

The new INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Dr. Adeniran Tella, has assumed office in Ibadan with a promise to hold elections that are free, fair, credible, transparent, and acceptable in 2023.

Radio Nigeria reports that Dr. Tella was welcomed by the administrative secretary of the commission, Alhaji Abiodun Amosun-Onikate, the management team and each of the electoral officers in the state’s 33 local government areas.

Dr. Tella told the commission’s personnel in the state to prepare for the task ahead in order to organize a successful election.

The REC also requested the assistance of each INEC employee in the state, stating that the task required the efforts of all.

Dr Tella, who was moved from Ekiti State to Oyo state, said that the reason for the successful conduct of the most recent governorship race in Ekiti was because of the synergy by all stakeholders who displayed decency, dedication, and transparency.

He promised that the same accomplishment will be duplicated in Oyo State.

Dr. Tella added that the commission had engaged in a lot of activities that would enhance the success of the forthcoming elections.

“For instance, we started from the expansion of voters access to polling units; then, the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), followed by claims and objections.

“Our staff have been engaged in training and capacity building, in line with the international best practices. This will now allow them to even be more proactive on the exercise,” he said.

The Administrative Secretary, Mr Amosun Onikate who responded on behalf of the administration and personnel, pledged complete devotion and cooperation to the new REC.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti state says voter’s cards of those who registered during the recently concluded Continuous Voters’ Registration are ready for collection at various locations in the state.

Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Adeniran Tella announced this while flagging off the distribution of the voter’s cards at Ado Ekiti Local Government office of the commission.

Dr. Tella explained that the commission had received one hundred and three thousand, six hundred and nineteen voter’s cards which would be available for collection at various Registration Area Centres for the next five days after which unclaimed cards would be taken to INEC Local Government Offices.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner urged the people of the State to take advantage of the period to collect their cards in order to participate in the coming elections, adding that some of them would not be able to obtain their PVCs due to double and incomplete registration.

In a remark, the Chairman, Coalition of Civil Society Organizations in Ekiti state, Professor Caleb Oluwadare commended the commission for its efforts at ensuring improved participation of people in elections.

After the flag off of the distribution of the voter cards, staff of INEC, led by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella embarked on road show to Fajuyi park to sensitize members of the public on the need for them to collect their voter cards.
