Nigeria has inaugurated its first Agritourism village in Lanlate, Ibarapa East local government area of Oyo state.

The ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony was attended by representatives of security agencies.

In an address of welcome Chairman, Nigerian Agritourism village project initiative, who is also the President, World Agritourism Organisation, Mr Trust Ogboi said the project when completed would not only serve as an industrial hub for agricultural produce but a relaxation spots for tourists and Nigerians in general.

Mr Ogboi commended President Bola Tinubu for declaring a state of emergency on food security noting that the project would food sustainability in the country.

The Agritourism boss also said the project would be replicated in the six geopolitical zones of the country

In her remark, Representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Florence Kakulu maintained that the establishment of the agritourism village would immensely contribute in developing the agricultural and tourism sector of the country 

Representatives of one of the stakeholders, the Catholic Archdiocese of Ibadan, Reverend Father Bernard Azeez noted that the church provided the land for the project to empower two million youths in the southwest.

The Balogun of Itabo, Lanlate, Chief Olusegun Adeosun said the laudable project would bring immense development to the people of the community.

Goodwill messages was delivered by representatives of the Nigerian Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Highlights of the event was the foundation laying, planting of seed and award of street drive to security agencies.
