  • Ekiti INEC Seeks Continuous Synergy with Stakeholders

    The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti State has sought the continuous synergy with stakeholders towards ensuring hitch-free, credible and acceptable future elections in the state.

    The Acting INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Muslim Omoleke made the call when he led the management team of the commission on Thank You visits to the offices of some stakeholders in Ado Ekiti.

    Dr. Omoleke said the visit was meant to appreciate the concerned groups which included the Media, Traditional Rulers, and security agencies for the roles they played in ensuring the success of the 2019 general election in Ekiti.

    He maintained that the move was equally geared towards soliciting for a stronger bond between the stakeholders and the commission to achieve continuous success in the future elections and promised to always carry them along in the scheme of things.

    In his remark, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr. Rotimi Ojomoyela who urged INEC to embark on constant sensitisation of the electorate on what is expected of the electoral body during polls, emphasised the need for the electoral umpire to foster a stronger mutual relationship with journalists in the interest of both parties.

    On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo charged INEC to evolve strategies that would engender the conduct of elections that would be credible, fair and widely accepted

    Some of the commission’s points of calls were NUJ, Secretariat, Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Police, DSS office and the Meeting Hall of the Council of Traditional Rulers in Ado Ekiti where the royal fathers prayed for more success for the commission.

  • We Remain Committed to Constant Staff Development – INEC

    The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it will continue to train its staff on regular basis to ensure optimum performance. 

    The Administrative Secretary of INEC in Ekiti state, Dr. Muslim Omoleke stated this in Ado-Ekiti at the opening of an ”Electoral Training Study Cycle” for training officers from the sixteen local governments of the state. 

    Dr. Omoleke explained that conducting election required a continuous process; hence the staff should be abreast of new trends in the conduct of polls. 

    He said the training which is holding simultaneously across the country was to update the knowledge of the staff on Electoral process to prevent future challenges. 

    Dr. Omoleke added that after the training, the participants would in turn train other staff of the commission at the Senatorial level.
