The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in Ekiti State has sought the continuous synergy with stakeholders towards ensuring hitch-free, credible and acceptable future elections in the state.

The Acting INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Muslim Omoleke made the call when he led the management team of the commission on Thank You visits to the offices of some stakeholders in Ado Ekiti.

Dr. Omoleke said the visit was meant to appreciate the concerned groups which included the Media, Traditional Rulers, and security agencies for the roles they played in ensuring the success of the 2019 general election in Ekiti.

He maintained that the move was equally geared towards soliciting for a stronger bond between the stakeholders and the commission to achieve continuous success in the future elections and promised to always carry them along in the scheme of things.

In his remark, the state chairman of NUJ, Mr. Rotimi Ojomoyela who urged INEC to embark on constant sensitisation of the electorate on what is expected of the electoral body during polls, emphasised the need for the electoral umpire to foster a stronger mutual relationship with journalists in the interest of both parties.

On his part, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amba Asuquo charged INEC to evolve strategies that would engender the conduct of elections that would be credible, fair and widely accepted

Some of the commission’s points of calls were NUJ, Secretariat, Ekiti State Command of the Nigeria Police, DSS office and the Meeting Hall of the Council of Traditional Rulers in Ado Ekiti where the royal fathers prayed for more success for the commission.
