Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde and his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mba have officially inaugurated a 12.5km Challenge- Odo Ona-Elewe-Elebu-Apata dualized road project.

Speaking at the inauguration held at the Owode Housing Estate Junction along Ibadan-Abeokuta Road, Ibadan  Governor Makinde reiterated the commitment of his administration towards improving the well-being of the people irrespective of economic challenges facing the nation.

Governor Makinde also disclosed that the ongoing wage award being received by workers in the state would be extended by another six months to help the workers navigate through the current economic realities

On the report of PDP Governors owing workers in their states, Governor Makinde, who reiterated the commitment of his administration to workers’ and pensioners’ welfare explained that civil servants have continued to collect their salary on or before 25 of every month t since 2019.

Governor Makinde named the road after Theophilus Akinyele Way in recognition of the contribution of the late Theophilus Akinyele, former  Head of Service of Oyo state and Special Adviser to the President on Budget Affairs from 1979-1983.

In a remark, the Governor of Enugu state, Peter Mba while describing Seyi Makinde as a people-friendly governor said the road was a testament to his passion for developing the state.

Earlier, the state Commissioner for Works, Professor Daud Sangodoyin said that the 12.5km road project started in 2008 but was neglected by successive governments before Governor Seyi Makinde re-awarded it.

Also, the federal Controller of Works, Oyo State, Mrs Moronmubo Olarerin commended Governor Makinde for his aggressive infrastructural development particularly road construction across the state whether state or federal road.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has suspended further collation of governorship election results in some parts of Abia and Enugu states.

This was made known in a statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye on Monday.

It will be recalled that INEC’s office in Obingwa Local Government Area in Abia State was invaded by thugs on Sunday, March 19, 2023, and its officials were held hostage in relation to the collation of results from the Local Government Area.

Similarly, reports from Enugu State called for a review of the results of the governorship election from the two outstanding Local Government Areas of Nsukka and Nkanu East.

According to Okoye, the entire process would be reviewed before it is concluded.

The statement read in part, “The Commission met today, Monday 20th March 2023 and reviewed the conduct of the Governorship and State Assembly elections held nationwide on Saturday 18th March 2023.

“Arising from the meeting, the Commission took the decision to suspend forthwith further collation of the Governorship election results in some parts of Abia and Enugu states.

“Consequently, the Commission hereby suspends the collation of results in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and the two outstanding Local Government Areas of Enugu State which are yet to be collated.

“A review will be undertaken immediately before the process is concluded.

“We appeal for the understanding and patience of voters, parties and candidates in the affected States.”

Operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested eighty (80) suspects for alleged internet- related  activities in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Forty (40) other suspects were arrested by operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the Commission for the same suspected offences.

They were all arrested based on verified intelligence linking them with fraudulent internet activities. 


They are:
Victor Abumere, Kehinde Samuel, Adedeji Ibrahim Olamilekan, Akinbowale Emmanuel, Taiwo Azeez, Adenuga Sunday, Sidiku Olubodun, Ekhuemelo Jerry, Agboola Khalid Babatunde, Alex Kelvin, Akande Jonah, Tobiloba Adekanye, Fatai Olalekan T., Giwa Babatunde David and  Emmanuel Victor Mayowa, 
Some are: Taofeek Toheeb Olamilekan, Olamilekan Fafilolu Quadri,  Olayinka Taiwo Olaniyi, Emmanuel Abiodun Olalekan, Awoleke Opeyemi Uthman, Ikenna Anyanwu Victor, Mosuro Daniel Oluwaseun, Amoo Abdulmalik Ademola, Oluwaseun Adeniran, Kehinde Kehinde Olatunji, Bakare Kayode Augustine, Okoli Propser, Kolawole Blessing, Okeolu Moshood, and Hammed Khalid Ayomide.
More are:  Hassan Waris Ademola, Taiwo Ademola, Adewale Ayomiposi, Abdullahi Maleek Olaniyi, Masika Adekunle Andrew.
The suspects were arrested in various locations in Ibadan, Oyo State and items recovered from them include: thirteen (13) exotic cars, three (3) motor bikes and mobile phones and laptops of different brands. 
 The 40 suspects arrested on March 29 and 30, 2022 in Enugu are: Chimezie Onyegwa, Chukwuebuka Jamespaul, Adams Nengi, Chibua Emmanuel. Mmoh Henry, Kingsly Obinna, Francis Alex, Nelson Chidiebere, Paschal Eze, Eke Emmanuel, Ezeme Johnpaul , Aroh Kenneth, Ugwu Darlington , Chukwuemeka Collins and  Ejielo Ifeanyi, 
Others are: Justin Obidiwe, Chibuike Henry, Chukwuemeka Okafor,  Osodiuru Prince,  Nwachukwu Steven, kelekchukwu Ugwu, Ugwuoke Victor, Udeh Victor, Ekata Endurance, Ukpabi Evidence, Eze Obinna, Amobi Eya, Victor Joshua, Gabriel Noel and Chisom Ede Nnamuchi.
The rest include Onwe  Nnamdi,Okonkwo Somtochukwu, Nnaji Ifeanyi, Ezeagu Ifeanyi, Maduabuchi Nwangbo, Onyenamaya Tochukwu,Wisdom Solomon, Agu Chibuzor, Nwokoro Sochima and Ifeanyichukwu Miracle.
They  were arrested  in  Nsukka, and the Premier Layout Axis of Enugu, Enugu State following verified  intelligence linking them with suspected internet- related offences.  
Items recovered from them are, three cars, mobile phones and laptops of various brands and other incriminating documents.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

There were shootings Monday morning been the New Market area of Enugu as gunmen believed to be implementing the sit-at-home order opened fire on passengers.

The passengers were said to have left their homes early to attend to their businesses when the bullets strated raining on the commuter bus conveying them.

The police reportedly intervened and brought in two victims who sustained gunshot wounds to Parklane.

Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe who confirmed the incident siad there was no death recorded.

He said; “there was a shooting incident at Odegba, along Iva-Valley Road, Enugu in the early hours of Monday, by yet-to-be identified armed men, which led to the injury of two persons.

“However, the victims are responding to treatment at the hospital where they were promptly taken to by Police Operatives, who swiftly responded to a distress call on the incident.

“Meanwhile, investigation has been launched to fish out the fleeing miscreants, please.”

Hours after unknown gunmen killed four policemen at a checkpoint in Enugu, a popular Security head Ogbonna Ani, popularly known as Jango has been shot dead.

Reports say there was heavy shooting in the Meniru area of the Coal City as gunmen wielding sophisticated weapons attacked the neighbourhood.

Residents were said to have gone into hiding when bullets started raining at about 11:00 pm Thursday night.

A number of victims including Jango’s daughter were said to have sustained gunshot wounds. His security dog was also killed in the attack.

Details of the attack were still sketchy at the time of this report but, it was gathered that those injured are receiving treatment at Parklane Hospital hospital.

Attempts to reach the Enugu Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Daniel Ndukwe failed as he didn’t pick up his calls.

The every Monday sit-at-home has continued to defy even the orders of IPOB leaders who have severally but unsuccessfully tried to halt the action.
In Enugu a Ford Vehicle conveying tomatoes, vegitables and other foodstuff into Enugu was Monday morning set ablaze by unknown persons believed to be enforcing the Monday sit-at-home.

EverydayNews reports that the vehicle was set ablaze at Edem junction Ibeagwa, Nike in the Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The vehicle was reportedly coming from the Ugwogo end of the Opi/Enugu bypass when it was blocked and set on fire.

Sympathizers were said to have put a call to the State Fire Service prompting a quick response by the Ogui Road fire service station to the scene.
Enugu did not observe last Monday’s sit-at-home but a shootout later that day at the Garki area of Enugu last may have forced residents to retreat and continue with the sit-at-home.

The leadership of the IPOB have severally announced an end to the Monday sit-at-home but some hoodlums have insisted it must continue until Nnamdi Kanu is released.
Violent attacks on those disobeying the order has forced residents of mostbpartanofnthe South East to continue with the order.

Gunmen have attacked a police checkpoint in Enugu State, killing two policemen.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at a police checkpoint in Nachi, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The two policemen were said to have died on the spot.

Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the attack, said the Command had commenced an action to track down the killers of the cops.

“Full scale investigation that will lead to fishing out of the assailants has commenced. Further development will be communicated, please,” he said.

This came a few weeks after a similar incident claimed the lives of four policemen in Amaechi Awkunanaw area of the state.

Office of the Independent Electoral Commissioner, INEC, in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu was Sunday morning set on fire.

Our source revealed that the arsonists climbed through the perimeter fence to gain access.
The fire which started in the early hours of Sunday did substantial damage to INEC Office, even as the quick response of the Fire Service helped to salvage the situation.

The Fire Service Station in Ozalla were said to have responded quickly giving credence to the establishment of Fire stations in local government areas by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.


This might be the resurgence of attacks on INEC Offices which appeared to have stopped after the state Headquarters in Enugu and some local areas like Udenu INEC Offices, were torched.
