Political associates, friends, constituents and family members of the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin gathered at the First Baptist Church, Anko Eruwa on Sunday to appreciate and thank God for the re-election of the Lawmaker as the Speaker for the 2nd consecutive term.

Recall that Hon Adebo Ogundoyin was last Wednesday in Ibadan re-elected unopposed as the Speaker of the 10th Oyo State House of Assembly. 

Rev. Olugbenga Ayoola of First Baptist Church, Anko Eruwa who rejoiced with Hon Adebo Ogundoyin on his re-election asked him to see it as a blessing and an uncommon grace of God. 

The Cleric urged Hon Adebo Ogundoyin to reciprocate God’s favor in his political career by striving to make positive impacts in the life of the people.

To commemorate Father’s Day, the Men Missionary Union, MMU of First Baptist Church, Anko Eruwa honored the Speaker and some other fathers in the church. 

The thanksgiving service coincided with the 32nd year remembrance of the late father of the Speaker, Chief Adeseun Oguntona Ayisa Ogundoyin who died on 18th June 1991.

In memory of the deceased,  the Speaker and his other siblings Adesoji, Adetoye and Aderemi distributed gifts to widows and the less privileged drawn from various communities in Eruwa and Lanlate towns. 

Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said his Dad was a strong pillar of support for the people, adding that his legacies linger on. 

” This day 32yrs ago,  the whole Ibarapaland was thrown into deep mourning when the death of late Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin was announced. I was too young to understand the reality of losing one’s father. But to God be the glory,  we have continued to enjoy the good name and legacies left behind by our late Dad” Oyo Speaker said. 

The program provided an opportunity for the guests to pay glowing tributes to the late philanthropist and business mogul who lived his entire life to serve the people and his community.

Political office holders, business associates, friends and well-wishers joined the Ogundoyin family to pay their last respect to Chief Mrs Justina Ogundoyin, mother of the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo.

At the funeral service held on Friday at Eleruwa Stadium, Eruwa in the Ibarapa zone of Oyo state, in his sermon, Father Felix Akinyode of Catholic Ibadan Dioceses, appealed to Nigeria’s political leaders to prioritize the integration of unity across religious and tribal divides.

Father Akinyode, who decried the level of tribal and religious division in the country, said that late Justina’s marriage to the late business mogul, Adeseun Ogundoyin portrayed the unity that should be encouraged among citizens.

He said the late Chief Ogundoyin was physically available for the work of God despite her status.

While speaking on behalf of the family, Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin, said the pain and loss of parents, especially the mother were immeasurable but took solace in the fact that their mother lived a life of service to God.

“I can say it a million times; you’re a mother anyone would love to have. It is a success story for me and my siblings today because Mum was there when we need her most”

“She demonstrated uncommon inner strength and performed the arduous and invaluable roles of both parents when our Dad answered the ultimate call in 1991 precisely on the 18th of June. But mum all alone through tick and thin gave us the best parental love and care anyone could hope for.”

“At a particular time, I accused her of loving outsiders more than her own children and she laughed and said” Debo, try to be kind to people and God will be kind to you” He added

Dignitaries at the event included members of the State Advisory Council, Assembly lawmakers and Lawmakers-Elect, PDP Southwest Deputy Chairman, Taofeek Arapaja, Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Iyabo Yerima and other personalities

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the upcoming 2023 General Elections in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has promised to prioritise the needs of the people in Eruwa and Ibarapa land if elected.

Chief Adelabu who said he had visited Eruwa and Ibarapa land on many occasions, noted that he was aware of the various challenges, such as security, road networks, hospital and other basic amenities saying it would be given utmost priority in his administration.

“I can assure you that I know where the shoe pinches while the welfare of the people of Eruwa, Ibarapaland will be my priority,” Adelabu said.

At separate consultation meetings with the Council of Elders, Imams and Alfas in Eruwa, Chief Adelabu scored the present administration low in the area of project delivery and affirmed that no geopolitical zone would be left out in his development plans.

He, however, solicited the support of the stakeholders in the March 11, 2023 governorship poll to enable him to realise his gubernatorial ambition.

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde says, his administration would continue to resuscitate moribund industries in the state and create value for the people from such assets.
He stated this while commissioning the rehabilitated/refurbished Ilaju Garri Processing Factory in Ilaju community of Ido Local Government Area.
Governor Makinde equally supported members of the Cooperative Society with Seven Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira as take-off grant.
Governor Makinde maintained that as part of his administration’s commitment to fixing infrastructure that target the economic expansion drive of the state, the government has included the Eruwa road in the RAAMP projects.

Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, appreciated Governor Makinde’s support and policy thrust aimed at rejuvenating the economy of the state using agriculture as a tool.

He added that Governor Makinde’s style of administration in the state has transformed the process of transacting government businesses and activities from analogue to digital, as it operates in the developed world of today.

There was massive turnout of voters in Eruwa, Ibarapa East, in the ongoing local government election in the state.
Despite continuous rainful, residents queued in numbers to cast their votes.

Residents defiled the early morning to cast there vote.

Speaker of the Oyo state house of assembly, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin cast his vote at about 10 O clock in the morning.

Meanwhile, There was a mild drama at ward 2 unit 5, Anko, Eruwa where some suspected party loyalists disagree over alleged disenfranchise of their rights. 
But security agents came later to douse the tension.

Traditional rulers, politicians, security personnel and religious leaders across Ibarapa Area of Oyo State have ordered the closure of all Kara Markets indefinitely over the spate of killings in the region lately.

The three Kara Markets are located along Igboora-Abeokuta Expressway, Okolo market situated on the outskirts of Eruwa town and at Igangan.

Kara market is majorly constituted by herdsmen involved in cattle trade.

The agreement was reached at a security meeting held at Ibarapa North Local Government Conference Hall, Ayete.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria after the meeting, the Secretary, Farmers Association, Ibarapa Zone, Mr Taiwo Adeagbo said it was also resolved that commercial motorcyclists would henceforth not be allowed to ride within the town as from 10pm.

Mr Adeagbo also said the meeting agreed that beer parlours and club houses should close by 10pm.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the meeting was part of measures to curtail the incessant killings and kidnappings being perpetrated by some suspected herdsmen.

Residents of Ibarapa land have been facing series of killings and kidnappings which have left many dead and some still in captive.
