Three persons have been presumed dead, 7 people sustained varying degrees of injuries, while one person escaped unhurt in a fatal crash that occurred at Ile-Ise-Paanu through Obada Oko, Ewekoro Local Government, inward Abeokuta, on Abeokuta/Lagos Expressway.

The accident which occurred at half past seven in the morning involved a Toyota Corolla car marked LND618FQ and a Nissan Micra taxi with registration number AKM590YQ.

Witnesses said both vehicles were inbound Abeokuta when the driver of the Blue Corolla Car lost control due to excessive speed and rammed into the Micra taxi from the back, while passengers in the taxi were alighting from it.

The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Command, Mrs Florence Okpe confirmed the crash in a statement in Abeokuta.

Mrs Okpe said the dead had been deposited at Federal Medical Centre, FMC, morgue, while those injured were taken to General Hospital, Ijaiye.

She said the Sector Commander, Mr Ahmed Umar advised motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations to avoid unnecessary mishaps like the one which occurred.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has expressed displeasure over the deplorable condition of Sango Idi Iroko road and Lagos Abeokuta express way.

Governor Abiodun who stated this while inspecting Joju road in Sango, urged the Federal Government to transfer the roads to the state government for urgent reconstruction.

Governor Abiodun said that his administration would soon complete Joju road which would serve as a major  bypass to the motorists passing through Lagos Abeokuta  road, and Sango Idiroko road.

While expressing satisfaction with the level and quality of work done on Joju road, Governor Abiodun said reconstruction of the road would alleviate the sufferings of the people.

The Governor who also visited Primary Health Centre  Obada Oko, in Ewekoro local government area of the state, said all equipment that would make the  Centre more functional would be provided for effective health care service delivery.
