Flying Eagles of Nigeria on Wednesday stunned Host Nation Argentina to qualify for the quarter finals of the ongoing FIFA Under 20 World cup.

Ibrahim Mohammed scored in the 61st minute to put Nigeria in front before substitute Rilwanu Sarki scored in stoppage time to hand the Flying Eagles a 2 nil victory to send the Host Nation packing out of the tournament.

In other matches played yesterday, Italy defeated England 2-1, Brazil beat Tunisia 4-1, while Columbia thrashed Slovakia 5-1.

Today (Thursday), Gambia will play Uruguay at half past six in the evening, while Ecuador and South Korea battle each other in the final round of 16 fixture at ten o’clock tonight.

Samson Lawal and Jude Sunday were on the score sheet to give Nigeria a deserved victory and take them to the summit of Group D.

In other matches played yesterday, Brazil thrashed Dominican Republic 6 nil, Columbia defeated Japan 2-1 while Senegal played out a 1-1 draw with Israel.

Today, Uruguay and England will battle each other, France tackles Gambia, Iraq lock horns with Tunisia, while South Korea play Honduras.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria began their FIFA Under-20 World Cup campaign with a 2 – 1 victory over Dominican Republic.

The Flying Eagles went behind in the 23rd minute after Edison Azcona converted a penalty to put the Dominican Republic in front.

However, Nigeria got back into the game when defender De Pena Rosario put the ball in his own net to make the game 1 – 1.

In the 70th minute, Forward Samson Lawal took advantage of a loose ball to make the score 2 – 1 and give the Flying Eagles a win in their opening Group D match.

In other matches played yesterday, Italy defeated Brazil 3-2, Senegal lost 1-0 to Japan, and Columbia beat Israel 2-1.

Today, France and South Korea will battle each other, England tackles Tunisia, Gambia locks horns with Honduras, while Uruguay play Iraq.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria have clinched third place at the 2023 Under 20 African cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

The Flying Eagles defeated Tunisia 4 nil in the third place Friday evening.

Ibrahim Mohammed, Ahmed Abdullahi and Jude Sunday were all on the score sheet to ensure the Ladan Bosso tutored team secured third place.

The final between Senegal and Gambia will hold Saturday evening.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria have failed to reach the final of the ongoing Under 20 African cup of Nations in Egypt after losing to the Young Scorpions of Gambia in the semi final on Monday.

The Flying Eagles lost to Gambia by a lone goal and would now settle for a battle with Tunisia for a third place finish.

Earlier, Senegal continued their commanding display at the tournament with a 3-nil victory over Tunisia to set up a final clash with Gambia.

The third place fixture between Nigeria and Tunisia will be played on Friday, while the final between Senegal and Gambia will be played on Saturday.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria have booked their place in the semi finals of the the ongoing Under 20 African cup of Nations, AFCON, in Egypt after defeating Uganda in the quarter final.

Nigeria won the game courtesy of an own goal in the 30 minutes as the game ended 1 nil in the favour of the Ladan Bosso tutored team.

The win also guaranteed the Flying Eagles qualification for the 2023 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Indonesia.

Similarly, Senegal defeated Benin Republic by one goal to nil to advance to the semi finals and clinched the World Cup ticket.

Today, Gambia will play South Sudan at three o’clock in the afternoon, while Tunisia and Congo will lock horns together at six o’clock in the evening to complete the quarter final stage.

Flying Eagles of Nigeria began their campaign at the 2023 Under 20 African cup of Nations, AFCON tournament in Egypt with a loss.

The Ladan Bosso tutored team Sunday evening lost their opening game to Senegal.

Souleymane Faye scored the only goal of the game to give the Senegalese side a one nil victory and go top of Group A.

It went from bad to worse for the Flying Eagles when substitute Ahmed Abdullahi was sent off in stoppage time.

Earlier, Host Egypt played a goalless draw with Mozambique in the opening game of the tournament.

In today’s fixtures, Uganda will play Central African Republic at three o’clock in the afternoon, while South Sudan and Congo will lock horns at six o’clock in the evening.

Head Coach of the U-20 National Team, the Flying Eagles, Isah Bosso, has called up 40 players to begin camping in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja from Monday, November 28, 2022, in preparation for the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals in Egypt.

This is according to a statement by the Nigeria Football Federation Communications Department, obtained on Saturday.

The list is made up of five goalkeepers, nine defenders, 13 midfielders and 13 forwards.

The players will stay at the Serob Legacy Hotel in the Wuye area of the nation’s capital. The seven-time African champions triumphed at the WAFU B U-20 Championship held in Niger Republic in May and thus qualified to represent the zone at the 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations to be staged in Egypt from February 18 to March 12.

All four semi-finalists at the U-20 AFCON will fly Africa’s flag at next year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup finals holding in Indonesia.
