Gateway Poly Shut Temporarily over Incessant Robbery Attacks

Following the incessant robbery attacks on students of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State, the management has announced the closure of the institution for the next two weeks.

A statement by the Acting Registrar of the institution, Mr J.O Popoola said the management also directed all students to stay clear of the school, pending when normalcy would be restored.

The Acting Registrar encouraged the students to join the online classes that would be introduced during the period to enable them to continue lectures for the current semester.

The Institution had in the past few weeks witnessed a series of robbery attacks on students of the polytechnic, disposing them of their valuables and also raping female students of the school.

FraudsterAllegedly Kills Girlfriend in Dispute over Money

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a twenty-seven years old internet fraudster, Obeta John arrested for killing his girlfriend Idowu Buhari, an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade, Ogun State.

According to the State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested by the Ode -Remo Divisional Headquarters after a report that the suspect was fighting with the deceased in his room.

He said the deceased was met in her pool of blood when police forced the door open. 

Mr. Oyeyemi said the victim was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty at the State Hospital Ishara on arrival.

He said the suspect on interrogation said that an amount of money from one of his clients was paid into the deceased account, which she refused to relinquish to him.

The police said the suspect also confessed that it was the argument over the said money that led to the scuffle which eventually led to her death.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole has since ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
