Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, SGF, and Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on his inauguration as the seventh democratically elected governor of Ondo State.

In a statement, Prince Abiodun described the occasion as the beginning of a new chapter in the state’s development, expressing confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s ability to drive transformative progress under the All Progressives Congress, APC administration.

He commended the governor’s early initiatives, particularly his plans connected to boosting tourism and attracting investments, citing the recent unveiling of Araromi Seaside’s potential to local and international investors as a testament to his commitment to unlocking Ondo State’s economic opportunities.

“Even before his resounding victory in the November 16, 2024, governorship election, His Excellency, Mr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, had demonstrated his readiness to lead Ondo State into a new era of prosperity,” Abiodun stated.

“As Deputy Governor to the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of blessed memory, he displayed unwavering dedication to the development of the state. His inauguration marks a significant moment for Ondo, signalling a renewed drive for progress and good governance.”

Governor Abiodun further highlighted the experience and leadership capabilities of Aiyedatiwa and the deputy governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, noting that their background in governance and the private sector positions them well to deliver democratic dividends to the people of Ondo State.

“On behalf of my colleagues at the Southern Governors Forum, I extend my best wishes to Governor Aiyedatiwa and his team for a successful tenure,” he added.

Nigerians have been advised to obey Allah’s commandments for a better society.

The Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheik Sa’adallah Bamgbola gave the charge while leading the two-Rakat Eid-el-fitri prayer at the Lantoro Eid Ground Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The Chief Imam reminded the congregation on the need to continuously maintain all the virtues imbibed during the holy month of Ramadan with high regards for the faithfulness of Allah.

The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun represented by the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Salis Shuaib congratulated the Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of Ramadan and enjoined stakeholders at various levels to join hands with the government to reduce the security challenges facing the society. 

Among the dignitaries that prayed at the Lantoro Eid Ground were the former Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Nigeria High Commissioner to United Kingdom, Ambassador Sarafa Isola, Police Commissioners of Ogun and Osun States among others.

Former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, has called on the present administration in the state to focus more on projects and programmes that would be of great benefit to the people of the state.

Chief Osoba made the call at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos while receiving members of the Ogun State Executive Council who paid him a visit on his arrival from the United Kingdom after a successful knee surgery.

While expressing delight with the level of development in Ogun State, especially in the areas of road infrastructure, education, health and security, Chief Osoba urged Governor Dapo Abiodun to remain resolute in executing sustainable projects across the state.

The former governor who commended the present administration for its land reform programme noted that apart from discouraging land speculators, it would also allow the state to reap huge benefits from its land resources.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, had described the former governor as an elder statesman who has the interest of the state at heart.
