Hoodlums alleged to be members of Oyo State Park Management System have attacked delegates at the parallel congress by Oyo State faction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP at Jogor Centre, Oke-Ado,  Ibadan.

No fewer than five persons were injured while scores of vehicles parked outside the venue were damaged.

The hoodlums, who stormed the venue from the back gate, were heard shooting sporadically into the air and attacking anyone seen on the way.

One of the cars damaged belongs to Murhi International Television, MiTV, which was used to convey reporters to the scene.

One of the hoodlums was caught by the members of the party and was beating mercilessly before being handed over to the police.

A delegate has been attacked by hoodlums at the ongoing parallel congress by Oyo State faction of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP at Jogor Centre, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

The hoodlums also vandalized some vehicles.

The attack was carried out at the entrance of the venue while the Congress was ongoing with the election of officials by delegates from the 33 local governments in the State.

There was a commotion in the hall when the news of the attack filtered in.

The victim who had blood streaming from his head was later attended to.

Meanwhile, one of the hoodlums was caught by the members of the party and had been handed over to the police.

Unknown gunmen this morning attacked the country home of the Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodimma in Omuma Oru east local government area of the state.

The hoodlums were said to have stormed the home of the Governor in a motorcade and attempted to unleash mayhem in the area.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer Imo State Police Command Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu said the hoodlums on arrival threw a petrol bomb inside the compound which burnt two vehicles that were parked in the premises.

According to him one unarmed official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC personnel attached to the residence lost his life during the incident.

Mr. Ikeokwu noted that the gunmen who were repelled by security operatives guarding the compound later killed a police sergeant and another official of the NSCDC while escaping from the scene.

Similarly, the state commissioner of Information and strategy Chief Declan Emelumba said about fifteen armed men tried to attack the residence of the Governor but were repelled by gallant security men.

He described the attack as politically motivated adding that the government had directed security agencies to fish out those behind the attack and bring them to justice.

The Imo state governor, Hope Uzodimma‘s house at his hometown in Omuma, Oru East local government area of Imo state, on Saturday morning was attacked and set ablaze by suspected hoodlums in black and black attire.

Vanguard in Owerri monitored the attack which saw sympathizers, villagers struggled to extinguish the fire.

As of the time of filing this report, many of which was said to be official vehicles were inflame as the suspected lifeless body was lying in front of the governor’s house. Just as part of the building was also inflame. Details coming…

Over One hundred farmers from Ijaye Farm Settlement in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State this morning embarked on a peaceful protest to the State Secretariat, Agodi Ibadan.

The farmers who carried placards with different inscriptions were protesting against the destruction of their farmlands by herdsmen in the council area.

Speaking on behalf of the farmers, the President of the Association, Dr. Tairu Tajudeen and the association’s secretary, Mr. Yakubu Olanrewaju said the herdsmen not only invade their crop farms with cows but also attack farmers who attempt to resist them and also rape their wives.

Dr. Tajudeen and Mr. Olanrewaju who explained that the herdsmen were armed with sophisticated weapons vowed to continue their protest should government failed to accede to their demands

Reacting, the former Commissioner of Police who also the executive assistant to Oyo State Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Sunday Odukoya said the state government would look into their demands.

The farmers had earlier taken their protest to the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development where they addressed by the director of administration and supply.

There was confusion in Sabo Area in Osogbo this (Friday) morning as some hoodlums armed with guns invaded the area, killed one and injured others. 

Radio Nigeria gathered that the incident degenerated into looting of shops by hoodlums in the areas. 

It was further gathered that the hoodlums on Thursday night went to the area claiming they were holding a “Candlelight Procession” for one of their members that died. 

However, the hoodlums attacked residents and business owners in the area. 

They shot one trader in the process while others sustained injuries leading to confusion in the area.

Subsequently, on Friday morning they returned to the area and unleashed mayhem by robbing and looting shops in the area. 

Many of the shops in the area closed down as a result of sporadic gunshots in the area. 

As at the time of filing this report the area is still tensed as some traders in the area have armed themselves with knives, cutlasses, clubs, stones to protect their shops.

Normalcy has returned to some areas in Ibadan where hoodlums were having clashes over unknown issues.

The areas included Labo, Orita Aperin, Elekuro, Kosodo and Oranyan.

A source closed to the Oyo State Joint Security Task Force, code named “Operation Burst” said some hoodlums had been arrested and the outfit was determined to ensure that the areas remain calm.

 Our correspondent who visited the areas said the residents refused to give out information on how the clash happened for the fear of reprisal attack.

Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed that an unidentified man lost his life to the fracas and a man was also arrested.

Mr Fadeyi said efforts had been made to ensure that the unrest became a thing of the past in the state.

He therefore called on residents of the areas to go about their lawful businesses without the fear of threat, terror or clashes as heavy presence of security personnel had been mounted in the areas.

It would be recalled that since four days ago, some alleged hoodlums had been clashing among themselves which led to death of a man and caused mayhem.

Traders at Ogbeni-Ogunpa market and other adjoining markets in Ibadan, Oyo state have called for provision of a vibrant security network in the markets.

The traders made this known during a peaceful protest around some markets to express their grievances over incessant burning and looting of their shops by suspected hoodlums.

According to the Chairman, Agbeni-Ogunpa Market Youth forum, Mr. Isiak Ademola, suspected hoodlums had looted shops in the markets about ten different occasions.

Mr. Ademola described as unfortunate that shops the suspected hoodlums were unable to be loot were torched.

Vice Chairman of the forum Mr Akilapa pointed out that traders at the markets had lost millions of Naira to the looters.

Two other protesters, Mrs Rukayat Feranmi and Miss Olabisi Salaudeen who were traders at the markets have been transacting business in fear of looting by the suspected hoodlums.

Mrs Feranmi and Miss Salaudeen added that some of those affected by the looting were yet to recover from the losses.

The peaceful protest resulted into partial closure of shops at Amunigun, Agbeni, Agbaje and Iyana Idikan Markets.

An eleven-year-old boy has been arrested by the police in Edo State for allegedly joining the gang of hoodlums that attacked Oba Market Police Station in Benin City where guns and police uniforms were carted away.

The young boy was said to have worn the uniform of a police sergeant moment after the police station’s attack at Evbuotubu area of Benin City.  

The young culprit allegedly declared himself as the Inspector General of Police and was bragging all about in Benin metropolis with the police uniforms while most of his peers were hailing and clapping for him.

 He was subsequently arrested and would be arraigned in a juvenile court soon.

Victims of the looting of property by highjackers of the EndSARS protest in Osun state have been counting their loses.


Recounting his ordeal, the Chairman’ Ilesa East local government, Mr Olowo Opejobori told radio Nigeria that he was perplexed by the attitude of the hoodlums numbering about 12 that came to his house brandishing dangerous weapons and robbed him of his belongings.


Mr Olowo Opejobori said the hoodlums not satisfied with the money they took from him resorted to vandalizing his property and threatening to inflict injuries on him.


Also speaking the former Chairman of Atakumosa East local government area, Mr Sanya Omirin said hoodlums besieged his farm and carted away livestock worth several millions of Naira.


Condemning the act of wickedness, the former local government Chairman on platform of the People’s Democratic Party noted that the EndSARS protest had transcend its purpose, expressing regret over the attitude of residents attacking their neighbors in their struggle to end police brutality.


In an interview the Chairman , Osun state Universal Basic Education Board, Mr Ajibola Famurewa described actions of the criminals masquerading as protesters as condemnable and that attacks on Leventis Agriculture Foundation and National Strategic Food Reserve as heinous.


Mr Famurewa said the genuine protesters and victims of police brutality should make use of the judicial inquiry panel set up by the state government to register their grievances, assuring them that their complaints will be given fair hearing.

Hoodlums have attacked the residence of senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Teslim Folarin.

Report says the hoodlums in their scores had gained entrance into the Oluyole Estate Residence of the Senator in Ibadan looting the property.

Some of the items carted away are empowerment materials which included motorcycles, grounding machines and generators.

Meanwhile, Operation Burst had dispersed the hoodlums and surrounded the house.

Hoodlums have embarked on looting spree in Osun state.

Despite announcement by the management teams of some firms that they do not house COVID-19 palliative, the hoodlums stormed private business firms and stole their belongings.

The hoodlums had on Friday broken into a warehouse in Ede where COVID-19 palliative were kept and carted away food, and did the same to Federal Government reserve in Ilesa.

The looting resumed unabated on Saturday as some rampaging youths stormed a private firm in Osogbo, TUNS Farm and carted away food items.

They also beseiged Ayegbaju International Market, Osogbo and looted wares belonging to citizen as well as constituency office of Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency and carted away valuables.

The hoodlums took items such as fridge, fans, interior decoration, electronic gadgets, among others.

Ogun State Government has warned those planning to attack public and private warehouses, commercial premises, public buildings and private businesses in the state not to go ahead with their plans.

A statement in Abeokuta by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Odusile warned of dire consequences should anyone attack any facility in the state.

The statement came against the backdrop of audio messages trending in some circles detailing plans by some criminal elements who had hijacked the peaceful #EndSARS protests to attack government’s property in different locations in the state with the intention of looting such.

It pointed out that combined team of law enforcement agents had been put on the alert to protect public buildings and other prominent facilities in all locations across the state. 

The statement also said that government support legitimate demands of the #EndSARS protesters, adding that the government would not condone any act or conduct by hoodlums  that could lead to a breach of public peace.
