A truck loaded with soft drinks early this morning rammed into one of the buildings of Saint Michael’s Primary School, Wema Junction at Apata end of Ibadan-Abeokuta Expressway. 

Witnesses told Radio Nigeria that the driver of the truck, which was coming from the Oluyole Estate area of Ibadan blamed the accident on brake failure.

The accident has resulted into gridlock as road users were having a hectic time negotiating the small available space on the road.

As of the time of filing this report, Traffic Officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Oyo state Road Transport Management Agency are controlling the traffic and diverting motorists to alternative routes.

Two people have been crushed to death by a hit and run truck along Kila, Ibadan-Abeokuta road in the early hours of Wednesday.

The victims, a male and female were said to be heading to Kila Market on a motorcycle when the truck allegedly rammed into them leaving the passenger dead immediately.

An official of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC Team who took the victims to the hospital said the rider was still gasping for breath en route the hospital but was later confirmed dead by the doctor.

The remains of the victims have been taken to an undisclosed morgue by officials of FRSC.
