Commissioner of police in Oyo state, Adebowale Williams has expressed satisfaction with the level of Peace being enjoyed so far in the ongoing Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.

CP Williams made this known this morning during his visit to the Oyo state INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella at the INEC state office.

The police CP said his visits to flash points within Ibadan metropolis showed that the situation was calm while electorates exercise their franchise in an orderly manner.

He said the command has put more measures in place to ensure peaceful process of the elections by deploying enough personnel to polling units across the state.

Similarly, the INEC REC in Oyo State, Dr Adeniran Tella has taken international observers round the venue to be used as collation centre for the ongoing election.

Dr Tella also used the opportunity to reassure the international community and residents of the state of credible and fair polls.

Also in attendance was the commandant, NSCDC Oyo State, Mr Michael Adaralewa

Meanwhile, there is tight security in and around Oyo State INEC office.

EndSARS protesters have grounded activities along Ibadan-Abeokuta road.

The protesting youths in their thousands had barricaded strategic locations from Odo-Ona, Oluyole, Apata and NNPC axis while all vehicular movements have also been grounded.

People in need of medical attention were however allowed to pass through the blockade.

The youths carried placards with various inscriptions calling for an end to police brutality.

Also, vehicular movements have been stagnated along Akala expressway, linking Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Orita Challenge.

The intersection has been barricaded by the EndSars protesters.

Motorists including motorcyclists were unable to access the roads.

Meanwhile, Commercial banks, Supermarkets, Filling Stations and many other business outfits are not opened for services.

Some parents were rushing to schools to pick up their children.

Ibadan-Abeokuta express way is the main road linking Ibadan and Abeokuta.

As of 09:45 am on 23rd March, (Source: @NCDCgov ) the number of Covid-19 cases in Nigeria is thirty-six with thirty-three active ones, a total of two people discharged with one person dead.

Lagos has twenty-five cases, the Federal Capital Territory, F.C.T, with six, Ogun State has two cases, Ekiti, Oyo and Edo states with one case each.

The first Covid-19 case in Nigeria was reported in Lagos on the twenty-ninth of last month.

Some of the preventive measures to prevent the disease are frequent washing of hands with soap using running water as well as the use of hand sanitizer.

Most of the banks and corporate offices visited in the Ibadan metropolis had sanitizers at their entrances for use by their customers.

Some residents who spoke with Radio Nigeria emphasised that they had been conscious of their level of personal hygiene.

However, there were no precautionary measures in markets as the traders were more concerned about their sales.

Some of them lamented the low level of patronage as most people were indoors.

They, however, called on the government to put mechanisms in place to control the spread of the Covid-19.
