The executive chairman, Ibadan North West, Alhaji Ramon Adepoju, has inaugurated a local security outfit and distributed compendium and exercise books to pupils in all public primary schools across the local government.

Performing the symbolic inauguration at the local government headquarters, Onireke Ibadan, Alhaji Adepoju said the event was to compliment the four cardinal pillars of the Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, towards improving the standard of education and providing adequate security of lives and property at the grassroots.

In a remark, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Bayo Lawal, who noted that Ibadan North West is the first to launch the local security outfit, urged the corps to be dedicated to protection of people and shun abuse of power.

The chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, explained that the government is making judicious use of counter funds to turn around school infrastructure and urged people at the grassroots to turn against miscreants who usually disrupt developmental projects.

The head of the newly inaugurated local security outfit, Retired Major Ramon Afolabi promised to discharge their duty diligently with the cooperation of the chairman, Alhaji Ramon Adepoju and other security agents.

The chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, Ibadan North West, Mr. Ayodele Adewolu expressed optimism that the learning materials would aid teaching and learning.

In their goodwill messages, the chairmen Community Development Council, CDC Ibadan North West, Pa Rufai Alape and his Oke’badan Local Council Development Agency, LCDA, counterpart, Elder John Kolawole said the complementary roles of the security outfit would reduce criminal activities in the local government.

Highlights of the event which was attended by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, represented by the Asipa of Ibadan, High Chief Eddy Oyewole, heads of security agencies in the local government, and other stakeholders, included distribution of learning materials, handing over of patrol vehicle and some security gadgets to the newly inaugurated local security outfit, parade and cultural dance by school pupils.

The code chain officer, Covid 19 vaccination in Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr Adediran Adedamola says vaccination is still on against rumour that the exercise has been suspended.

Mr Adedamola, who stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Ibadan, noted that the number of people coming around for the exercise had reduced drastically.

The code chain officer explained that though thousands of people had benefited from the exercise, there was still need for the front liners to benefit from the exercise.

Mr Adedamola also said there had been no record of adverse effects of the vaccine on people except for mild complaints of fever and headache.

He further stressed that the vaccination would go a long way in curtailing the spread of Covid-19.
