The Accord Governorship Candidate for the 2023 election in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu says a better package awaits monarchs and chiefs in the state if elected.

Chief Adelabu who made this known in Igboora during his ongoing consultations across the zones in the state, assured monarchs of adequate welfare by ensuring the prompt release of five per cent that was allocated to them adding that there would be more welfare package for the monarchs and chiefs. 

“I solicit your support by voting for All Accord candidates in Oyo state in the February and March 11 governorship election to correct the anomalies in the present administration in the State and to bring good governance to the people of Oyo.”

I urged you to use your vote to elect me as Governor of Oyo State come 2023 and shun violence before during and after the election”, Adelabu said

Chief Adelabu who expressed disappointment that the Local Government administration had performed below expectations since they were elected over 18 months ago, promised to support local government autonomy to drive rapid development in the grassroots.

He also met with traders and artisans in Igboora where he promised to support them through free loans to boost their trades.

A prominent farmer, Mr. Musa Monsuru popularly known as “ATIKU” has been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen in his Cashew plantation situated at Araromi village in Igboora town of Oyo State.

The body of the farmer was found on Monday evening in his Cashew farm clearly indicating that he was murdered either last Saturday or Sunday for the corpse has been releasing unpleasant odour.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the lifeless body of Monsuru has been deposited at a private hospital along Idere road in Igboora by officers of Agro Rangers on Monday evening.

No arrest has been made as at the time of filling this report.

Hon. Dr Ajibola Muraina, the Member representing Ibarapa Central/ Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the 9th House of Representatives on Saturday October 9, 2021 joined his constituents to celebrate the uniqueness of Igbo-Ora for a high frequency of twins birth at the grand finale of Igbo-Ora World Twins Festival.

The Igbo-Ora World Twins Festival is a cultural tourism event aimed at promoting the multifunctional twinning cultural heritage of the Land of Twins, Igbo-Ora, Oyo State.

The theme of the 2021 celebrations, “Twinning For Global Medical Breakthroughs” was chosen as a way of celebrating the medical team of National Medical Centre, Abuja that successfully separated the conjoined Martins twins in 2020.

The event is not only the celebration of twins, it is the celebration of multiple births, however twins are the more frequent of multiple births, hence the tag, ‘Twins Festival’. In fact, some family compounds in Igbo-Ora have been named ‘Ile-Ibeta’ because of the frequency of triplets births in these compounds.

The largest frequency of multiple births and particularly twins in the world occuring at Igbo-Ora was established by medical research confirming that for every 1000 live births in Igbo-Ora, at least 156 are twins, hence the title: World Capital of Twins.

In his remarks at the event, Hon Muraina attributed the uniqueness of the frequency of multiple births in Igbo-Ora to the blessings of God, saying it cannot be fully explained by the diet of the people or the water they drink.

He further pointed out that Members of the House of Representatives in the 9th Assembly were made aware of the mysteriously high frequency of twin births in the community during the presentation of his bill on the establishment of Federal Medical Centre, Igboora.

The colourful event at which Hon Dr Muraina and Hon Sarafa Olaoniye, who accompanied him were presented with Awards of Excellence was graced by the Life Grand Patron of the festival, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Atanda, the Alaafin of Oyo; the Olu of Igbo-Ora, Oba Jimoh Olayide Titiloye, Asoroolu Ayinla V; the LOC Chairman of the event HRM Oba Adedamola Badmus, Olu-Aso of Iberekodo, Igbo-Ora, other monarchs and eminent Ibarapa sons and daughters.

Over two thousand sets of twin were paraded last Saturday at the playground of Methodist Grammar school, Igboora in Ibarapa Central Local Government of Oyo State.

The twins including babies, infants, youths and adults dressed in the same designed attire happily paraded before Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi and other distinguished guests in celebration of 2021 World Twins Festival organized by Igboora community.

The unique event which had started early last week with various academic and sporting competitions among the twins was rounded off on Saturday with an acrobatic display, cultural dance and presentation of prizes to the bestperformed twins.

Speaking at the occasion, the Oyo State Governor Engineer Seyi Makinde who was represented by Mr. Adejumobi Adebowale assured the people of Igboora Community of his continuous support in ensuring rapid social- economic development. 

The governor promised that Cultural and Tourism aspect will be catered for than before in the next year 2022 budget and the 2022 edition of Igboora Twins Festival will be more elaborate.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria Correspondent, the Olu of Igboora, Oba Olajide Titiloye said God has graciously blessed Igboora Community with Multiple births, that out of every one thousand living births One hundred and fifty eight twin sets come from Igboora.

Oba Titiloye added that people of Igboora always nourish twins and probably that is why multiple births keep coming daily when some other parts of the World see twins as an abomination.

He implored the government both State and Federal to support in funding the yearly Twins celebration that Igboora may become a tourist Centre which can eventually become Revenue Generation Centre.

Among the Royal fathers in attendance were Okere of Saki and Alado of Ado- awaye.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has flagged off the distribution of palliative packages for the COVID-19 partial lockdown in the state. 

The distribution of the palliatives which according to the governor is meant for the poorest of the poor was flagged off in Igboora, Ibarapa zone of the state.

Governor Makinde noted that the decision to decentralize the distribution across various zones in the state was borne out of the need to ensure that the packages reach expected beneficiaries irrespective of political or religious affiliations.

Governor Makinde added that other categories of the palliative packages that would accommodate farmers and other vulnerable sector of the society, would soon be distributed.

While reeling out modalities for proper distribution, Commissioner for Special Duties and chairman Palliative Distribution Committee, Chief Bayo Lawal said about 2836 packages would be distributed across Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East and Ibarapa North Local governments.

Some of the beneficiaries commended the state government for the kind gesture and appealed to the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration not to relent in his efforts to bring development to the state.
