Oyo State government has reiterated its determination to ensure the security and well-being of women in the society.

Speaking during a rally organised by a coalition of women groups in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community Development and Social Welfare, represented by the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Christiana Abioye said security of lives and property was among the priorities of Governor Seyi Makinde-led present administration.

Mrs Abioye explained that since security was a collective responsibility, women should ensure the safety of their children at the home front, while also taking adequate care of them even in the face of the present economic situation in the country.

Also speaking, the only woman in Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Wumi Oladeji, appreciated the Oyo State Government for being gender-friendly.

Honourable Oladeji assured women that the state Assembly would attend to the bill on women’s participation in governance and other bills proposed by women which were rejected by the National Assembly.
