An Islamic scholar,  Mallam AbdWahab Yusuff has urged Muslims to avoid acts of hatred in their dealings with others.

He stated this during the sermon of the Jumat service held at Omilabu Central Mosque,  Arulogun Road,  off Ojoo, Ibadan.

Mallam Yusuf said Muslims are brothers to one another and having the minds of downfalls for others contradicted the acts of brotherhood.

He identified factors aiding hatred to include lack of contentment,  selfishness and pride.

Mallam Yusuf noted that  Islam condemns pride adding that anyone with elements of the act according to Prophet Muhammad would not enter Paradise.

Many mosques in Ibadan have continued to comply with Oyo state government’s ban on religious gatherings of more than ten people to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

All mosques at Aba-Panu and Kuola, Apata were not opened for Jumat services.

It was the same situation at Odua Central Mosque, Dugbe and Lebanon Street Mosque, Ogunpa as they were under lock.

It was not a different story as mosques at Omilabu and Idi-Omo along Arulogun Road, off Ojoo were not open as well.

At Oluyole Extension Central Mosque, a banner was placed outside which reads “No Jumat Service until further notice”.

Similarly, Police Command Central Mosque, Eleyele and Idi Ishin mosque, Jericho were devoid of human movement as everywhere was silent.

Some Muslims who spoke with Radio Nigeria said they observed 4 rakaat of Suhr prayer at home in place of the 2 Rakaat of Jumat prayer as directed by their leaders.

Many mosques have complied with Oyo state government’s ban on religious gatherings to curb the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Our team of correspondents who visited different mosques in Ibadan metropolis where Jumat services were being held reports that the mosques were under lock.

At Aba-Pan, Ayedaade Central Mosque and Masjid Ibaadullahi Mosobalaje, Olose community, Kuola Area, Apata the mosques were not opened for Jumat Prayers.

The situation was the same at NASFAT Central Mosque, Samonda, Orogun Central Mosque and Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria Mosque, Agbowo.

It was not different at Arulogun Road, off Ojoo as some of the mosques visited were not open for Jumat services.

The same story was observed at Odua Central Mosque, Dugbe and Lebanon Street Mosque, Ogunpa as the usual moving up and down of the faithful was absent.

Commenting, Imam Abdulah  Ishola of Masjid Ibaadullahi Mosobalaje, Olose Community said members of the congregation had been informed earlier of the suspension of Jumat service as part of precautionary measures against the spread of COVID 19.

However, it was noticed that some Islamic faithful observed their four Rakat of Suhr prayer in groups at homes in place of 2 Rakaat of Jumat prayer.

Some Muslim brethren who spoke with radio Nigeria noted that it was necessary to obey the government’s directives in ensuring that the virus did not spread beyond control.
