Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has ordered immediate reconstruction of part of Sasa market in Ojoo, Ibadan recently gutted by fire.

He said this when he paid a visit to the market to assess the level of damages done in the market.

Governor Makinde while sympathizing with the traders assured the people that his administration remained committed to their welfare and would do the needful in addressing the impending challenges. 

The Governor urged the traders to be more careful in handling electrical appliances which might result in fire outbreak especially in the dry season. 

Governor Makinde who later visited the Sarkin SaSa, Alhaji Yamma Haruna me Yassin, after the assessment tour noted that he was aware of some misunderstanding in the market and pledged to resolve it accordingly. 

In a remark, the Sakin SaSa commended the Governor for his approach to issues and enjoined him not to relent in being responsive to the people.

It would be recalled that a fire outbreak occurred recently in part of Sasa market which razed several shops.

The Oyo state House of Assembly Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus has condoled the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde, over the shocking death of the governor’s mother.

In a statement signed by the party Whip of the PDP caucus, Honourable Akintunde Olajide, the lawmakers described the death as a great and irredeemable loss to the entire state.

According to the statement, Mrs Abigail Makinde who was just a few weeks to celebrating her 81st birthday lived a completely fulfilled life filled with glamour and great legacies that will continue to linger into many generations to come.

The PDP lawmakers described the governor’s mother as a true mother who flowed like a river through which governor Makinde enjoyed uninterrupted guidance to greatness.

The family of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has announced the passing to the great beyond of mother of the governor, Mrs. Abigail Makinde.
A statement signed by the elder brother to the governor,Mr Muyiwa Makinde indicates that Mrs Abigeal Makinde aged 81 died in the early hours of Thursday, October 15, 2020.

The statement which appreciates the Almighty for sparing her life thus far notes that the deceased  will sorely miss for her counsel, motherly role and impact on the lives of her children and the grandchildren..

It appreciates  the prayers and condolences of our numerous well-wishers.

Oyo state governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has urged the civil servants in the state not to see workers verification exercise as ploy to downsize but for development of the state.

He stated this while flagging off the verification and payroll validation exercise at Agodi, Governor’s office, Ibadan.

The flagging off was witnessed by representatives of the state NLC and TUC in the state.

Governor Makinde explained that the staff audit which cuts across both civil and public service including pensioners was targeted at effective service delivery and proper planning for the entire citizenry.

Governor Makinde urged the Saadat Barkini Ottun, the consultant handling the project to be fair in the discharge of its duties and treat the workers with dignity.

The state Head of Service, Alhaja Ololade Agboola, urged civil servants in the state not to take the exercise with levity pointing out that the programme would add value to the state civil service.

Earlier, the representative of NLC and TUC in the state, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed and Olayiwola Yunusa raised issues such as submission of Bank Verification Number, centralised venue and called for expulsion of BVN from the exercise due to its sensitivity.

They however believed that the exercise was meant for development of the state.
