The Police Command in Ogun State says it is collaborating with other security agencies to rescue the three workers of former President Olusegun Obasanjo abducted by kidnappers.

The command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, while speaking with newsmen explained that the Anti-Kidnapping Section and the Special Weapons and Tactics section of the police were on the trail of the kidnappers.

He hinted that other police operatives and security operatives were also working toward the same objective.

The Ogun Police command spokesman advised residents to be security conscious and to refrain from keeping late nights, especially in isolated areas.

The three employees of Obasanjo Holdings were abducted by gunmen at a community in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Police in Ogun state have arrested a suspect for impersonation and kidnapping a military officer in Odo Pako Ota, in Ado-odo Ota local government area of Ogun state.

The suspect, Waliu Oloyede was arrested after the policeman attached to Sango Ota divisional headquarters got a report an army officer was having issues with vigilante men in the area.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested in full military camouflage uniform with the rank of W02 while attempting to snatch a gun from a Vigilante man.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the suspect suspect in company of his colleagues had abducted W/o2 military officer at about half past eleven in the evening of 16th July 2021and took him to their hideouts in Alagbado, Lagos State where all his belongings including his uniform were collected.

The command spokesman who said the victim escaped noted that the suspect decided to use the uniform to perpetrate heinous acts before he was arrested. 

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edward Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to anti-kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.

Mr. Ajogun also ordered a massive manhunt his other accomplice with the view to bring them to justice

Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men for allegedly impersonating police officers in Ibogun Town in Ifo Local Government Area of the state. 

According to a statement by the spokesman of the command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects, Tajudeen Bankole and Fawoyi Rotimi were arrested following information from an hotelier that two police officers demanded an unspecified amount of money from them after a threat of arrest.

He said the duo had confessed to the allegation with one of them being a dismissed policeman while the other was an informant.

Recovered from them are two forged police warrant cards.

Also, operatives of SWAT in Ogun State have apprehended one Oduola Abiola for impersonating a Nigeria Security and Civil Defense officer. 

He stated that the thirty-one year-old was arrested when a stolen phone was traced to him at Ibara area of Abeokuta.

The statement said he was arrested with a complete NSCDC uniform which he claimed to have stolen from a civil defense officer. 

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Edward Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

The thirteen years old boy, Gbolahan Ajibola, kidnapped in Obada -Oko town, Ewekoro local government area of Ogun State has been freed.

The kidnappers were reported to have reached out to the family of the freed boy to demand fifty million naira ransom.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the release of the boy

He said the victim has since been reunited with his family while he was not aware of payment of ransom to in the process.

Police in Ogun State have advised hoteliers in the state against releasing their facilities to be used for any cult related gathering.

The command also appealed to parents and guardians to warn their wards to stay clear of any unlawful gatherings. 

The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi in statement in Abeokuta noted that such facility would be liable for prosecution.

Mr Oyeyemi explained that the command had received intelligence report that members of a notorious cult group were planning to unleash terror and violence on Tuesday 7th of July 2020 across the state to mark what they called 7/7.

He also pointed out that members of the group were planning to use the said date to initiate new members into their fold after which they would engage their rival cult group in a supremacy battle which he said could lead to loss of life and wanton destruction of property.

Mr Oyeyemi said efforts had been intensified to nip in the bud any act capable of undermining the security of the state assuring members of the public to go about their lawful business without fear of harassment or intimation.

Ogun State Police Command says the manhunt has begun to track down a suspected killer terrorising the people of Ogere, Iperu, Ilisan and other communities in Remo North Local Government Area of the state.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known while speaking on the reported killing of some people by a drug addict and cultist one Feyisola Dosunmu at Ogere.

The police spokesman said he could not confirm the number of deaths but stated that a complaint had been lodged with the police.

Mr. Oyeyemi hinted that the police would ensure that the suspect is arrested.

It was reported that the runaway suspect went on rampage and killed some people in the communities.

Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested three suspected men for allegedly impersonating to be military men.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi said in Abeokuta that the three men were arrested in military camouflage in Agbado Area of the state.

Mr Oyeyemi noted that some police officers had been on the close watch of the suspects following a series of reports from members of the public about their illegal activities in the area.

The police spokesman who explained that the suspects claimed initially to be officers of 174 Battalion Ikorodu, confessed to having been dismissed from the Nigerian army a long time ago.

Mr Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Ogun State Police Command has arrested six robbery suspects over a recent attack at an estate around Olomoore, Abeokuta.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects had invaded the estate with a cutlass and inflicted injuries on the residents and also dispossessed them of handsets, laptop, cash, and other valuables.

He explained that the arrest of the suspects was made possible following the tracking of a member of the gang.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the gang was trailed to the house of an herbalist at Olomoore area of Abeokuta which serves as their hideout.

He noted that robbery suspects also resisted arrest during which one of them was shot, and five others arrested, alongside the herbalist.

Recovered from the robbery suspects are one laptop, five handsets, a cutlass, and charms.

The statement further noted that the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Keneth Ebrimson has ordered the transfer of the suspect to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, for further investigation.

In a bid to find a lasting solution to security challenges facing the country, security experts have stressed the need to enhance community policing.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in Ogun State, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria’s Paramount FM in Abeokuta. 

Mr. Oyeyemi said security agencies on ground cannot perform their duties alone, hence the need to introduce community policing which would go a long way in enhancing security in the state as well as the country at large.

He also urged the authorities of community policing to ensure the proper orientation of members that would be recruited into the scheme.

Also speaking, the Ogun State So Safe Corps Commander, Mr. Soji Ganzallo said measures had been put in place to make the state safer for residents, adding that there would be no hiding place for criminals.

Ogun State Police Command says it has arrested a twenty five old cobbler Olamide Babayemi for allegedly raping and making an attempt to kill a twenty-two year old Microbiology graduate.

The state’s Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement in Abeokuta that the suspect was arrested following a report by the victim at the Redemption Camp Police Station.

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the victim claimed to have given the suspect the sum of eighteen thousand naira to help her to buy phone but the cobbler refused to buy the phone for her.

He said the victim told Divisional Police Officer, DPO that the cobbler invited her to an estate in Mowe to collect the phone but the suspect raped her and recorded her naked video which he started sending to some of his friends. 

Mr. Oyeyemi explained that the victim claimed that the phone call that the suspect received from his mother gave her the opportunity to escape from being killed.

The police’s spokesman said the suspect who was arrested by the Mowe Divisional Police Officer claimed to be the boyfriend of the victim.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the suspect blamed the victim for the incident for calling it quits with him after she graduated from the university. 

He noted that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenneth Ebrimson had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution
