Women should maintain a healthy lifestyle by placing priority on their health to avoid untimely death.


Wife of Oyo state Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde stated this at a Christmas party organized for women in the state.


Mrs Makinde who was represented by the Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Joke Sanni said the task at the homefront and workplace could make women fall ill sometimes.


She implored women to always go for medical checkup to know their blood sugar level and screen for cervical and breast cancer.


In a reaction, the women who were dressed in colorful attires, promised to show love at this season and also appreciated the kind gesture of the wife of Oyo State.


The program featured presentation of food items and cash donations.

As part of activities commemorating Nigeria’s 60th anniversary celebration, wife of the Oyo state governor Mrs Tamunominini makinde has hosted some orphanages and care homes for the celebration.

The wife of the governor who called on the children not to relent in pursuing their dreams of becoming great noted that those who fought for independence were once children.

She acknowledged the potential in them and commended their care givers for the hard work they put in in taking of the children with special needs.

Mrs Makinde who charged the children with special needs to be impactful in life without minding the challenges confronting them, noted that they could make Nigeria better and greater.

In her opening remarks, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs Joke Sanni said the theme of the 60th anniversary was indeed needful at a time such as this, as it was only in togetherness that Nigeria and Nigerians can survive.

Highlights of the program included dancing competition, drama presentation, choreography and distribution of foodstuffs, drugs, toiletries and cash to 25 children homes in Oyo state.
