New executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Chapel, have been inaugurated.

The ceremony took place at Studio One of the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan.
Seven candidates obtained nomination forms for various positions, but only four were cleared to contest and emerged unopposed.

Performing the inauguration, the Chairman of the NUJ, Oyo State Council, Mr Akeem Abas, assisted by the Chapel Secretary, Mr Dayo Adu, and the Treasurer, Mr Moses Morenikeji, commended members of the FRCN Ibadan Chapel for their support during the last State Council election.


Mr Abas appreciated the cooperation of the State Secretary and Treasurer and assured members of more rewarding activities from the council.

Addressing the gathering, a former Chairman of the NUJ Oyo State Council and Deputy Director, News and Current Affairs Department, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Mr Adewumi Faniran, praised the team spirit among the executive members and stressed the need to sustain unity.

Mr Faniran cautioned the new executives against external influence and advised them to always consult union leaders for proper guidance.

In a paper titled “Leadership as Service: A Renewed Mandate and Higher Responsibilities,” the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan, Mr Olufemi Fulani, who was represented by Mr Faniran, said leadership selection must be based on merit.

He urged the new executives to remain steadfast in restoring professionalism and assured them of the station’s continued support.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the NUJ, FRCN Ibadan Chapel, Mr Oluwakayode Banjo, said the chapel had raised the bar in professionalism, membership strength, and representation at the State Council level.

Mr Banjo solicited support from former contestants, leaders, and members of the chapel, pledging to work closely with the state executives to move the union forward.

The newly inaugurated executives included: Mr Oluwakayode Banjo – Chairman (re-elected), Miss Rasheedah Makinde – Vice Chairman (re-elected), Mr Olawale Asake – Secretary
Mr Olalekan Olayiwola – Financial Secretary (re-elected).

Mr Kehinde Olayade of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station has been elected the new chairman of Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria, RATTAWU, Oyo state council.

His election alongside others came at the the Union’s Triennial Delegates Conference, held in Ibadan.

Other members of the executive are Mr Adekunle Awoso as vice chairman, Mr Femi Olubode from BCOS as secretary while Mr olumide Ogunbiyi also a staff of Radio Nigeria  is the financial secretary among others.

They are to pilot the affairs of the Union for the next three years.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Mr Olayade promised to prioritize the welfare of members and take the union to greater heights.

Earlier, the National Vice President of the Union, Mr Dare Durosimi advised the executives to ensure a cordial relationship with members noting that their positions was a call to service.

In a goodwill message, Former Deputy Director Audit, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal station, Alhaji Adewale Akande advised the new executive to run an open door administration and give all members a sense of belonging.

Paramount FM Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ogun State Council has elected new leaders to run the chapel for the next three years.

The new executive which has Olusegun Folarin as Chairman has been inaugurated at the Broadcasting House, Kobape Road, Abeokuta.
