Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has solicited the support of the Nigeria Police in fighting against security challenges facing the country.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya stated this while hosting the Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Nwachuku Enwonwu.

Alhaji Akinsanya said if the police could partner the corps by organising training and seminars on tackling insecurity, it would go a long way in waging war against crime.

Reacting, Mr Nwachuku Enwonwu said the police was ready to work with civil defence to collectively nip crime in the bud.

The police boss therefore called on the officers and men to always respect human rights while discharging their responsibilities in order to earn the trust of the people.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has admonished its officers and men to be professional and polite when discharging their duties, especially during the curfew and lockdown.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State,  Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya stated this during a net meeting with his officers and men on how to work harder and effective.

He noted that the officers needed to be civil in their approach in dealing with civil populace while on Covid-19 lock-down enforcement duty.

Alhaji Akinsanya stated further that officers should work closely with journalists as they are part of the essential workers who needed adequate protection and support whenever they are carrying out their assignment.

The NSCDC boss added that people should continue to obey the rules of social distancing and stay at home during the curfew and lock-down.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC Oyo State Command has seized sixty-four bags of cannabis at Ofiki River in Igbo Igbaye area of Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government Council of the state. 

Six motorcycles were also found at the scene.

While displaying the exhibits at the command headquarters, Secretariat Road, Ibadan, the state Commandant of the corps, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya said the suspects, who were at large, brought the drugs through the forest from Cotonou, Republic of Benin and were heading to Mologede near Abeokuta in Ogun State.

Alhaji Akinsanya said that his Command Agro Ranger squad that specialized in raid and assault mission, including mediation on farmers- herder crisis worked on credible intelligence information to seize the exhibits

He said the drugs would later be handed over to NDLEA, and warned that Oyo State was not home of crimes and criminality, enjoining criminals to vacate the sate or be ready to face the consequences.

Alhaji Akinsanya also commended the people of Ibarapa Central for supporting the Agro Ranger squad and used the medium to ask for more collaboration in order to nip the crime in the bud.

He, therefore, encouraged the people of Oyo State to follow the government’s directive on the Covid-19 pandemic by staying safe with good hygiene, social distancing and total compliance with the curfew.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has pledged support to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to enhance peaceful polls at all times.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo State, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya stated this during a courtesy visit to INEC office in the state.

Alhaji Akinsanya said to achieve a free and fair election, security agencies must always collaborate with INEC.

He further stated that the corps saddled with the responsibilities of combating civil crises, including protection of lives and property during elections lauded the brilliant outing of INEC, during the last elections.

Responding, Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC, Mr. Mutiu Agboke commended the NSCDC for a job well done during the last elections.

Mr. Agboke said INEC, security agencies, the media and members of the public need to always be on the same page to collectively move the country to greater heights.
