Media professionals in service must keep the flag flying to ensure the Fourth Estate of the Realm fulfill its constitutional role in the country.

Chairman, League of Veteran Journalists, Oyo State chapter, Mr Banji Ogundele stated this at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan during his inauguration and other executive members the association.

Mr Ogundele explained that it was imperative that journalists as watchdog of society preserved the ethics of the profession, and pledged the League’s readiness to assist those in service to get it right in their chosen career.

The Oyo League of Journalists new chairman, who lauded their predecessors, said the new executive members would build on the achievements, as moving journalism as a whole forward was paramount on their agenda.

In a remark, chairman of the League’s electoral committee, Mr Phil Aragbada urged media professionals to plan for their retirement while in service.

Members of the new executive included Dr Bayo Busari , Vice Chairman; Alhaji Wole Akinloye, Secretary; Ahaji Segun Omilabu-Gandi, Treasurer.

Others were Mr Bisi Bakare, Public Relations Officer; Mr  Isaiah Ojeyemi, Financial Secretary and Ahaji Layiwola lawal as Ex-officio.

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Oyo State Council’s Solemn Assembly has offered prayers for the restoration of peace in some troubled parts of the country.

The women clad in red and black dresses converged on the Dapo Aderogba Hall, NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan.

During a prayer session lead by the wife of the former governor of Oyo State, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, represented by Mrs Omolara Farinloye prayed for spirit of godliness and honest for the nation’s leaders and divine mercy to heal the nation.

Also, the Resident Pastor, Living Faith Chapel, Pastor Aderemi Adekunle represented by Pastor Willington Aligbe prayed for forgiveness and charged all women to rekindle hope in Nigeria.

In the same vein a NASFAT Missionary leader, Alhaji Lawal Surajudeen emphasized prayer of peace to solve problems confronting the nation.

The Oyo State NAWOJ Chairperson, Mrs Jadesola Ajibola said the only weapon that can set the nation free against all odds, is prayer. 

Also former Oyo State NAWOJ Chairperson, Pastor Mrs Adekitan Adeagbo prayed against the enemies of the nation.
