Radio Nigeria kid’s football challenge for Oyo zone begins on Wednesday at Olivet Baptist high school football pitch, Oyo.
At ten o clock in the morning, Ladigbolu secondary school will take on sped secondary school Oyo, while community high School Fiditi will take on Olivet Baptist high school later in the day.
Also, Ilora community commercial high school will slug it out with Fiditi grammar school, while the last match of the day will be between oba Adeyemi high school and Al-Aadin unique college.
Bright Ville College, Ibadan won the Ibadan zone of Radio Nigeria Ibadan kid’s football challenge held last month.
Sixteen schools that registered for the maiden edition of Radio Nigeria Ibadan Kids Football Challenge have been drawn into four groups.
At the ceremony held at the Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan, the participating schools were zoned into Ibadan and Oyo Zones.
Brightville School, U.I. International School, Maverick International School and Christ The Redeemer Secondary School are in Group A.
In Group B, Loyola College, Qiblah College, Saint Catherine School and Christ Ambassadors International College would be locking horns.
In Oyo Zone, Ladigbolu Secondary School, SPED Secondary School, Community High School, Ilora and Fiditi Grammar School will be slugging it out in Group C.
Group D has Community High School, Fiditi, Olivet Baptist College, Oyo, Oba Adeyemi High School, Oyo and Al-Aadin Unique College.
Earlier, the Acting Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi represented by the Deputy Director News and Current Affairs, Elder Adenrele Ajisefinni, had pointed out that the football competition would discover the football talents at the grassroots.
Mrs. Owoyemi stressed the need for all tiers of government to pump more funds into the sports sector.
Other speakers at the event, including the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on Sports development, Mr. Tobi Oyewumi and Ex-International, Haruna Ilerika, appealed to the participating schools not to field overage players at the competition.
The ceremony had in attendance, General Manager, Premier FM, Ibadan, Alhaji Aderemi Omotosho, Assistant Director, Marketing Department of FRCN, Ibadan, who is also the Chairman, Local Organising Committee of the competition, Mr. Wale Afinjuomo and Games Masters from the 16 participating schools.
The Radio Nigeria Kids Football Challenge which is for under-12 students will be held from the tenth to the seventeenth of next month.
