Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that his administration would continue to respect traditional institutions towards preserving the rich culture and tradition of the state.

Governor Abiodun stated this at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta while receiving Olowu-in- council led by the New Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola.

The Governor who pointed out that traditional institutions remained the closest to the people, said that his administration would continue to collaborate with the institution for the overall development of the state.

While commending all traditional rulers in the state for ensuring peace and security in their various domains, the Governor said his administration would continue to support security agencies in strengthening security architecture across the state. 

Earlier, the New Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, while acknowledging the sincerity of purpose and the efficiency with which the state government approved his emergence, promised to continue to contribute his quota for the development of the state.

The Balogun of Owu kingdom, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo wants the new king of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola to have full concentration while performing the traditional rite to the throne.

Chief Obasanjo gave the advice during his meeting with the new king and representatives of the Owu kingdom at his Ita-Iyalode residence in Abeokuta.

He noted that it was necessary to show the king to all Owu indigenes and assured Oba Matemilola of his support at all times.

The former president of Nigeria, who described the process of selecting a new king by the Owu people as unique, commended other chiefs that participated in the selection process.

The new Olowu had since commenced the seclusion rite to the throne, called Ipebi.
