A 23-year-old Kehinde Babalola has been arrested by the Osun Amotekun Corps for armed robbery and raping of an undergraduate in Okuku, headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area. 

It was gathered that Kehinde was nabbed while he was robbing students in one of the hostels in the Okuku community. 

A source told our correspondent that, after Kehinde robbed a female undergraduate, he raped her, and while forcefully having carnal knowledge of her, some students alerted the Amotekun Corps who arrested him.

The Field Commander of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, when contacted, confirmed the incident. 

Comrade Amitolu said the suspect was caught pants down raping an undergraduate, while armed with a gun, knife, money, phones, and cartridges. 

He also confirmed the arrest of a school dropout, one Timileyin Afolabi, for armed robbery in Oyan community, Odo-Otin local government area.

The Osun State Government has shut down Inisha Town Central Mosque in Odo-Otin Local Government Area over the crisis surrounding the installation of a new Chief Imam. 

The state government noted it has banned all activities and any central congregation at the Mosque for Eid prayers. 

According report from the community, a traditional chief, Eesa of Inisha, Chief Enoch Ajiboso, slumped and died on 20th December 2020 at the palace while settling a dispute between two parties who were contending for the position of Chief Imam of the community. 

A statement by the Osun State Government, signed by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Adeyanju Binuyo, states that the decision was reached following the inability of the Muslim Community of the town to peacefully install a new Imam for the mosque.

The statement notes that the Mosque has recorded the death of two Imams in quick succession, adding that, as part of efforts to ensure the security of lives and properties in that axis of the state, the Governor directs that the Central Mosque be shut indefinitely to forestall religious or communal crisis. 

Security operatives have been deployed to the town to enforce the closure and ban on Eid Prayers.

The directive will be in place until the reconciliation process towards amicable resolution is concluded.

Residents of Okuku Community headquarters of Odo-Otin Local Government Area, Osun State were on Thursday thrown into panic as an explosive device detonated and injured a female shop owner. 

Radio Nigeria learnt that the incident occurred around 7:30 in the morning when a female shop owner opposite Olokuku palace was cleaning her shop in observance of weekly environmental exercise imposed by the Osun State government. 

Okuku is the home town of the former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

It was learnt that the explosive device was left behind by armed robbers who invaded a new generation bank on March 11th, 2021 and carted away money. 

A resident, who simply identified himself as Shola, said, the shop where the incident happened was the spot where the armed robbers highlighted and distributed weapons before they commenced the robbery last week Thursday. 

Shola narrated further, that the woman after sweeping the surroundings of her shop, was burning the refuse when the explosive detonated and injured her.

When Newsmen contacted the spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, she said details of the incident were not available at the moment.
