Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Obalanlege, has assured the people of Ado-Odo/Ota that their security is vital to the Ogun State Government.

The monarch who said this while speaking with news men on the state of affairs in his kingdom, said that it was the duty of the traditional political institution to ensure that the security of the society was safeguarded because it is what drives the development of the society.

Oba Olalanlege said security, which was the hallmark of a sustainable development aspect of nation-building, has been one of the areas he had ensured effective participation of stakeholders, especially the Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security arms of government for effective collaboration towards ensuring the safety of lives and property.

The monarch said, “The issue of security in the Ado-Odo/Ota area needs collective efforts”.

Oba Obalanlege therefore called on the police, DSS, the Nigerian Navy and other security agencies including local hunters for a briefing on security issues.

The Olota of Ota Land,Oba Abdukabri Adeyemi Obalanlege has a described the demise Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as a great loss to the entire Yoruba race.

Oba Abdulkabri Obalanlege In an interview with Radio Nigeria , said the late Oba Adeyemi was one of the strong pillars of Yoruba culture and traditions who took control of the throne and ruled the kingdom extraordinarily.
Chairman, Ogun State Awori Obas Forum, noted that the vacuum created by the demise of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi will be difficult to fill in a short while.

The Olota however commiserates with the Adeyemi family and the entire Yoruba Traditional body as he prays for eternal rest for the late Oba.

The Olota Of Ota, Ogun State, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege has called on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria to ensure that Choice FM cited in the city commence transmission before the end of the year.
The Olota made the call during a meeting with the management of FRCN Ibadan National led by the Zonal Director, Mrs Bolatito Joseph at his palace.

He said the people of the area would give all the needed support to the FRCN to ensure that the station come on air as soon as possible.
The traditional ruler had earlier inspected the station with his traditional council for an on the spot assessment of the problems delaying the commencement work at the station.

The Choice FM of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria is situated in Ota by the management of the corporation in the south West to bring credible information to the people of the area and enable government to also have feedback on its policy direction as well as promote the cultural heritage of the awori people.
In the last eight years, many efforts had been made to ensure that the choice FM hit the air wave but with no success.
The latest effort by the new leadership of the FRCN Ibadan National station being led by Mrs. Bolatito Joseph prompted the Olota of Ota, a professor of Mass Communication, Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege to call the management of the Radio Nigeria in the Zone to a meeting on how to ensure that the station start transmission soon.
The Zonal Director FRCN Ibadan National station, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph told the monarch that people of the area must support the government to ensure that the station come on air soon for their benefits
While responding, the monarch stated that the community was now more than ready to ensure that the station start work, calling on the management of FRCN Ibadan National station to provide the palace with documents the community would use to start work to enable the station to go on air.
In a remark, the former Chairman of Caretaker committee of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Ogun state, Mr. Kayode Taiwo said the people of Ota were eager to have the Choice FM start transmission
The Zonal Director accompanied by the Deputy Director Engineering, FRCN Ibadan National station Mr. Gabriel Ajayi and the Assistant Director, Administration,Mr. Adeyinka Esho later met with the staff of the Choice FM, Ota.
The team also inspected facilities already provided at the station.

As the total lockdown of Ogun State began last night, the Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege has donated a cash gift to his subject to assist in the implementation of the “Feed Ota Initiative”.

This was contained in a statement by his personal assistant, Prince Olusesi Suleiman.

According to Prince Suleiman, the gesture is to complement the effort of Governor Dapo Abiodun in providing palliative to people during the 14-day lockdown directed by the presidency.

The statement urged the people of Ota to comply with the government’s directive aimed at curtailing the spread of coronavirus pandemic as well as to prevent a breakdown of law and order.

The “Feed Ota Initiative” was spearheaded by a group of concerned youths in Ota with contributions from the Seriki of Ota, High Chief Olanrewaju Basorun and Saheed Owolabi, among others.

Ogun State could not join the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos State to begin the stay-at-home directive last Tuesday as ordered by President Mohammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, the streets of Ota are virtually empty as people and motorists stayed at home to obey the stay-at-home order.
