Tears flowed freely while emotions also ran high as the body of the slain Ondo Journalist, Olubunmi Afuye was  committed to mother earth in Akure, the capital city on Monday.
Afuye was killed by Dare devil armed robbers when they attacked a Bank in Ilara Mokin, Ondo state.
Saint Thomas’ Anglican church Isinkan Akure, venue of the service of songs and funeral service for the late Olubunmi Afuye was filled with family members, colleagues, politicians, friends and other sympathizers who dressed in black attires and wore long faces.
Taking his sermon from the book of Hebrew 9:27 and 2 Corinthians 4:5, the Cleric in charge of St Stephens’ Anglican Church, Ita-Ogbolu, Venerable Stephen Sani said death was inevitable and charged everyone to live a life worthy of praise after death.
Describing the late Journalist as a hardworking, humble, cheerful and devout christian, Venerable Sani urged everyone to always remember that death is the end of man.
The cleric who lamented the maner in which the late broadcaster died urged both the federal and state governments to step up security measures across the country.
Several groups paid tributes to the late Ekiti- Born Journalist.
Dignitaries who attended the funeral service included the Anglican Bishop of Akure Diocese,  Reverend Simeon Borokini, a member of the ondo state house of Assembly, Hon Oluwole Borokini, Ondo NUJ Chairman, Mr Tona Aderoboye, Staff of Elizade university, Ilara Mokin, Members of Sports writers association of Nigeria SWAN Ondo state among others.
Aged 43, Olubunmi Afuye was the Public Relations Officer of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin after leaving the Ondo state Radiovision Corporation, OSRC, where he worked as a broadcaster for almost a decade.

Crime

Three persons including a journalist, Olubunmi Afuye have been shot dead in a bank robbery in Ilara- Mokin in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state.

One of the victims is the journalist and the new Public Relations Officer of a private University in the town.
Confirming the incident, the state Police command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro said the robbers also killed a policeman and a motorcyclist.

The PPRO noted that they were said to have raided the commercial bank for several minutes and carted away an undisclosed amount of money and escaped unchallenged.
