Operatives of Oyo State Security Network Agency comprising Amotekun Corps , Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and Vigilance Group  of Nigeria (VGN) have apprehended six suspected bandits at Kajola Local Government area of Oyo State .

The Commandant of Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olagunju made this known in a release made available to journalist.

Rtd  Col Olagunju in the statement says the arrest was made during a joint routine patrol in the early hours of Thursday.

The suspects were arrested in separate incidents following encounters at two illegally mounted road blocks. 

The statement says the suspects tried to escape but were overpowered by the operatives.

The bandits, who are Bororo Fulani included Awali Atine, Ibrahim Abu, Shuaib Balau, Ibrahim Musa, Abdullah Masika and Umar Aliu Masika.

The bandits whose modus operandi was to pretend as herdsmen in the day and violently robbed innocent passengers on the highways at night were caught with 183 cows, weapons and a total sum of #268, 470.00.

 The release adds that the suspects and the exhibits have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Authority Okeho Divisional  headquarters.

An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates Court sitting in Ibadan has ordered the remand of three members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) in a correctional centre for alleged arson.

The suspects are: Awodele Adedigba, 45;  Dauda Kazeem , 38, and Hassan Ramon, 33, with three counts of conspiracy, murder and arson.

The prosecution counsel, Insp. Opeyemi Olagunju told the court that the  suspects on March 7,  at about eight o clock in the morning at Kajola  village, Ayete, allegedly caused the death of a 45-year-old woman.

He said that Awodele, Dauda and Hassan allegedly set the house of the Ibarapa “warlord” Abdullahi Wakili,  valued at  N5 million on fire.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olaide Hamzat, who did not take the plea of the suspects, for want in jurisdiction, ordered that they be remanded in Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo town.

The Cheif Magistrate ordered the police to duplicate the case file and send to the office of the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

He adjourned the matter untill April 21, for mention.

The tense situation has reduced in some local governments in Ibadan after the power tussle on the leadership of the council.

Our correspondent who has been monitoring the development reports that at Ibadan West Local Council Development Area, LCDA, some party loyalists numbering about fifty were sighted gisting while security operatives mounted the gate.

The caretaker chairman of the LCDA, Mr. Kehinde Akande appealed to the workers to resume duties as there was no longer tension.

At Ibadan Southwest, some youth corps members were seen everywhere while most of the offices were under lock.

Some of the corps members said they were at the NYSC office at the Local Government Office for their monthly clearance.

The situation at Ibadan North Local Government Office, Agodi was different as the gates were under lock while security operatives including a representative of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC were also on ground to maintain law and order.
