Oyo State government has organized a one-day sensitization workshop on security consciousness for store officers, watchmen, revenue officers and drivers in the state public and civil service to curb and insecurity within the secretariat. 

Speaking at the workshop, the Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Alhaji Siju Lawal, explained that part of the objectives of the workshop was to inculcate required skills, intellect and attitude that would not only promote efficiency in the service but create consciousness and alertness to douse security tension.

Mr Lawal also enjoined participants to have a change of attitude and adhere strictly with general order/rule and regulations guiding the service.

The commissioner said participants would be sensitized on available disciplinary measures that would be taken against any erring officer that indulge in malpractices or aid and abet any form of crime.

Some of the participants expressed hope that the workshop would assist in equipping them with necessary skills to forestall insecurity within the state secretariat.

About fifty eight public and civil servants were shortlisted to participate in the workshop.

Oyo State Police Command has expressed gratitude to the Oyo State Government and people of the state for commiserating with the command over the death of the personal assistant to the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, ASP Olusegun Popoola.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Shina Olukolu appreciated everyone who identified with the Oyo State Police Command on the loss of the ASP Popoola.

CP Olukolu described late ASP Popoola as a dedicated, loyal and jovial officer, who approached all his assignments with seriousness.

ASP Olusegun Popoola died on Wednesday at the University College Hospital, UCH Ibadan, after a brief illness.
