Oyo State governor, Engineer ‘Seyi Makinde has felicitated the Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, on his 99th birthday.

Governor Makinde, who hailed Fasoranti for his contributions to the emancipation of the Yoruba ethnic group and the progress of Nigeria, prayed to God to grant his age-long desires for the Yoruba nation and Nigeria as a whole. 

According to the governor, Pa Fasoranti has, for decades, continued to stand tall as a Leader, role model and father, thus, he deserves to be celebrated. 

He said: “On behalf of the Government and the good People of Oyo State, I felicitate Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, Leader of the pan-Yoruba Sociopolitical Organisation, Afenifere, on the occasion of his 99th birthday. 

“Baba, we celebrate your exemplary life of service to the Yoruba Ethnic Group and your immense contributions to nation-building over the years. 

“As you clock 99, it is our prayer that God grants all your heart desires on Yoruba emancipation and the continued progress and well-being of the South-West and Nigeria as a whole. 

“Happy Birthday, Sir.”

Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has hailed the leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti for providing leadership to the Yoruba nation over the years.

Governor Makinde who felicitated Pa Fasoranti on the occasion of his 98th birthday, maintained that the nonagenarian has contributed immensely to the growth and progress of the Yoruba ethnic group and Nigeria as a whole.

He congratulated the Afenifere leader, praying to God to grant him more years and good health as he continues to lead his people.

Makinde said: “I congratulate the Afenifere leader and our Baba, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, on the occasion of his 98th birthday.

“Pa Fasoranti has, over the past years, provided positive leadership to the Yoruba nation and has contributed immensely to the growth and progress of the Yoruba ethnic group and the country.

“His calm disposition to issues of national interest and his patriotism have been great hallmarks that leaders must emulate.
“I celebrate Baba and I pray to God to give him good health as he continues to lead his people.”

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and three state governors today led other dignitaries to launch the autobiography of the Afenifere National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti titled “My Life: My Legacy”.

At the event held at the Dome in Akure, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Obasanjo described Pa Fasoranti as one of the few Nigerian leaders who should have been president of the country due to their integrity and brilliance.

Also speaking, Asiwaju Tinubu who was represented by the Osun State Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, said unprecedented contentment of the Afenifere national leader would remain indelible in the hearts of many Yoruba people.

In an address, the 94year-old Afenifere leader, Pa Fasoranti said the essence of writing the book ”My Life, My Legacy” and raise funds to establish a Democratic Institute was to inculcate and entrench desired political values and discipline for generations yet unborn.

Governors Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Kayode Fayemi said the state governments in the Southwest region would ensure the construction of the Fasoranti Democratic Institute.

The event was attended by Afenifere chieftains worldwide and political bigwigs including Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa, Yinka Odumakin, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; former Kwara governor Cornelius Adebayo and the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Mr Eyitayo Jegede among others.

Chairman, Nigeria’s Governors Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has charged the federal government to intensify efforts in its fight against insecurity in the country.

Governor Fayemi made the call in Akure when he paid a condolence visit to the leader of Afenifere Group, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, whose daughter, Mrs. Funke Olakunrin was killed by suspected gunmen along Lagos – Ore expressway on Friday.
