Ogun State Governor , Prince Dapo Abiodun has released  One billion naira Gratuity  in fulfilment of his promise to prioritize the welfare of pensioners.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of State Pensions, Mr. Adesoji Adewuyi made this known in  Abeokuta.

Mr Adewuyi explained that the fund was released to cater for the state pensions which would be in two batches, with the first batch for pensioners in October 2014 list, as well as the outstanding of Basic, Rent and Transport (BRT) allowance for the month of March, 2013.

Mr Adewuyi stressed that pensioners with urgent medical needs or hospital bills would also be considered from the gratuity.

He added that the second batch of the gratuity would be paid to pensioners who were listed for November 2014, adding that the Basic, Rent and Transport (BRT) allowances for the remaining pensioners in March and April 2013, would equally be taken care of.

Osun State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola says his administration has released and paid about N31billion as pensions to all categories of pensioners in the State since 2018.

Presenting a Cheque of Nine hundred and Sixty Three Million, Two Hundred and Forty-Six Thousand, Five Hundred and Thirty Naira  to pensioners in the State, Governor Oyetola promised to sustain prompt payment of salaries and pension.

The governor said his administration has been doing everything possible to fulfill his promise despite the harsh economic conditions arising from national economic challenges.

He noted that government had been consistent in ensuring the release of Five Hundred and Nine Million on a monthly basis to cater for pensioners under the old pension scheme.

Mr. Oyetola urged them to continue to put in their best and rally round government in its effort to reposition the state its economy for prosperity.

In a remarks, Osun State Head of Service, Doctor  Festus Olowogboyega, applauded the administration of Governor Oyetola for prioritizing the welfare and well-being of the citizens, particularly both active and passive workers in the State.

Also speaking, Osun  State Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr.  Jacob Adekomi, expressed gratitude to the Governor for taking the welfare and well-being of the civil servants as priority.
