Buhari, Kenyatta at Ministerial Review Retreat

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently chairing the third Ministerial Performance Review Retreat at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This year’s retreat, themed ‘Enhance Security, Fight Corruption, Transform the Economy’, is meant to review the regime’s progress since the last edition one year ago.

According to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, the forum serves as a safe space for self-assessment and evaluation of progress and impact of work done.

In attendance are principal officers of the National Assembly, all members of the Federal Executive Council, and Service Chiefs, among others.

The immediate past President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, is also present for the exercise.

In his opening address, President Buhari noted that the exercise would, among other things, ensure boosting electricity generation to 25,000 Megawatts in the next six years.

He also pledged that the present administration would continue to fight corruption and prosecute high-profile corruption cases speedily.

ANPMP Sends SOS to Buhari on Health Sector

President Mohammadu Buhari has been called upon to urgently save the health care system in Nigeria from total collapse.

President, Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners, , Dr Ugwu Odo stated this at the opening ceremony of the 44th annual general meeting and international scientific conference of the association held in Ibadan.

Dr Odo noted that the mass exodus of medical practitioners due to non-payment of their allowances is becoming quite worrisome.

In a lecture on the occasion, former minister of health, Professor Isaac Adewole who was represented by a Medical practitioner at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, Dr Imran Bello said if the health care system in the country was strengthened there would be no need for a politician to seek medical care abroad

In a remark Commissioner for Health in Oyo state, reiterated that the present administration will continue to do all it could to support health care system in the state.

Eight members of the association were awarded as fellow, while Commissioner for health in Oyo state was given a recognition award.

Delta NUT Hails PMB Over Extension Of Retirement Age

Delta State Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, says recent educational policies by the President Mohammadu Buhari administration such as the extension of retirement age of teachers has the potentials to revamp the nation’s primary and secondary system.

The Delta State Secretary of the NUT, Comrade Dan Basime, state this in Asaba, the state capital while responding to some impactful policies of the President Mohammadu Buhari under the current dispensation.

Mr. Basime noted the policy would enable the mentoring of younger teachers to the overall benefit of the students.

Comrade Basime while commending the president for the development added that the policy should be domesticated speedily in all the states of the federation and the federal capital territory.

The State Secretary of the NUT also expressed the confidence that the policy would be domesticated in Delta State when it is approved by the National Assembly and adopted by the National executive of the Union of Teachers.

Meanwhile, residents of Delta State have commended the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari for the takeoff of the Nigerian Maritime University in Okorenkoko and the recent establishment of the Federal Polytechnic in Orogun.

On infrastructure projects by the federal government, the people commended the president for the resumption of resumption of work on the 337km East-West road saying the scheme which is expected to be completed in first quarter of 2022 would ease the movement of people across the Niger Delta region and improve the standard of living of the people.

Oghenero Eghweree reports that the residents also lauded the federal government for the successful repatriation of over ten thousand Nigerian migrants from Libya, out of which were many residents from the Niger Delta region.
